  1. Added better pics of the 1912 penny as promised.
  2. At £ 10 you wont get a wreath crown. That said even fakes cost more. Did you try using those silver testing magnets to confirm if the coin is silver? I would start there. I am not into silver so can't say much but there are others on this forum that will clarify your doubts
  3. Did you find anything you fancy. For me just the F6 and perhaps the 1876 H wide dates. Good luck all.
  4. Do you have link to an image or listing? The search feature on the Spink site doesn't seem to work. Wait, never mind, see https://www.spink.com/files/catalogue/14007.pdf (p142). This seems to be BP 1953 L, not the seemingly more common F244. Here's the previous sale I was thinking of: http://www.londoncoins.co.uk/?page=Pastresults&auc=144&searchlot=386&searchtype=2 Some more discussion at http://www.predecimal.com/forum/topic/9390-1953-penny-mule-rob-bernie/ with what looks like allusions to the second ??? in my list. Here you go mate https://www.spink.com/lot-description.aspx?id=14007000929 - Damn at my bid of £ 2550 I thought I was going to win it
  5. Shite i've lost a year. My bad should have been Dec 2014 Spink sale. Sorry!!!
  6. Wow I am so impressed I was able to spot it and to think of it as the first non proof 1953 that I had come across. I had seen 3 proofs prior so it made it simple
  7. I am not too sure about Ha-pennies. http://i.imgur.com/WBTkdZq.jpg The 4 is almost covered
  8. Peck, Though I agree with most of what you say I have this to add. I saw the 1953 toothed/beaded penny which sold in the Dec 2015 Spink sale. I can say for sure that, that particular coin was not a Proof let alone a VIP proof. I got outbid on that as I don’t have very deep pockets. That said if the buyer of that coin is on the forum, I would be very grateful to hear their thoughts. Regards, Prax
  9. Nice one Nick will do it rightaway
  10. Hi Rob, We all know that Ebay has starting using ads on its pages. For someone who opens 40 ebay item pages in one go this gets really slow and crashes the browser. http://i.imgur.com/JqRkvRc.png Personally I feel I have to kill the Flash program to get any work down. Else the screen freezes. Also I have noticed that opening a single ebay item page causes the browser to run like a dog. So what I do is open all 40 or 50 item pages I want to view. Then kill the flash program http://i.imgur.com/gHMOrPW.png I used WAPT to shech how bad my system performance is on opening an ebay item page. The results show that there is a 13% drop in performance on opening a single item description page. I am not sure Silverlight would be a better choice. Given that I dont like the ads, I cant see why I should give ebay the chance to enhance the visual experience of something that I don't give a rat's arse about. FYI I block Silverlight too. Prax
  11. I am glad I was not eating when I came across that BU or I would have thrown-up
  12. How about this for BU http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1863-penny-BU-/331459258624?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item4d2c82e900
  13. Very useful. Where are you from Cath? Reason for my question is to find out how you managed to escape the export - re-ipmort fees payable to HMRC. I am told FedEx can mark it a shipment for export and reimport but this is more of a hit and miss
  14. From one newbie and one penny collector to another "Welcome Hazelman".
  15. I saw this coin in the auction and it looked like a trace of the H was to be seen. I did bid on it though
  16. LCA had two massive lots of Maundy money sold in the previous auction covering every year from 1837 to 2014 I believe. Why dont you ask them for the buyer's details and explain your effort to the. What you are undertaking is very commendable. I wish you all the very best. I can help with a few pennies.
  17. Damn meant to say R and I will not touch at their base
  18. I've just been looking at Spink's photos of the Obv 11 and Obv 12 and I'm going mad trying to spot the differences, and that's on two high grade coins. What's the clincher that even works for worn specimens? The B and R in BRITT will not touch, This is the clincher. The next thing to look for is the nose which will be slightly hooked with the bulge present at 20% below the bridge of the nose.
  19. http://i.imgur.com/ekuNOjF.jpg A clear giveaway
