  1. Following Stuart's suggestion I'm moving my requests for Everson IDs from 'Acquisition of the Week' over to here. Makes much more sense to continue this under the British Hammered' banner. Anyway: Here's another. Interestingly, this one is badly cut and includes part of the beaded border of the next coin on the strip. What is the PM? To me it looks like an acorn.
  2. I've received this reply from the seller, but I see the listing remains unchanged. New message from: jbro80005 (190) ok cheers Reply YOU: Hi Jbro, The Henry VIII groat you have listed is a modern pewter (not silver) replica made by WRL. If you look at the reverse you will see their stamp to the left of the shield. These replicas are sold on presentation cards and are available on line and in museum gift shops for a couple of pounds each. Kind regards, Mchael
  3. Done. As well as drawing his attention to WRL being clearly stamped in the reverse field I've also told him its not silver. At least the buyer will be able to return under the 'not as described' option if he/she realises the mistake once the 'coin' is received.
  4. I would've bid on that if I'd known about it. I guess you would have too?
  5. Possibly a poorly made facsimile intended for a cheap item of jewellery?
  6. Blowed if I know. Poor workmanship, whatever it is. And why 'GILT' on the reverse? 18 bids on it already I see.
  7. Are you sending yourself up? There's a spelling error in your question. Chris is just pulling your leg.
  8. Stuart passed this on to Tim Everson who responded below: If a contemporary counterfeit it is indeed of very fine work, especially when compared with others of the same period. Thank you for showing me this most interesting coin. Nice that it is in such nice condition too. As you say the punctuation is the same as my 129i on the obverse, the reverse is unusual in having a stop after FRAN rather than an apostrophe stop. It is of good style but it was well spotted of you concerning the fleur de lis on the sceptre tops. They do not look right and it makes me thin that 129i was perhaps an excellent counterfeit as I think this is rather than poor genuine piece. It is new to my book and I would classify it as follows: 130g*. (BMC 252)pm Woolpack. Obverse as 129i. Reverse 2 but stop after FRAN. Six strings. Die axis 0. [ER] (It is now the author's opinion that this piece and 129i may be counterfeit because of the upright die axis and the unusual obverse readings) Thanks again so much for this Happy Christmas Tim
  9. Upload a couple of photos Jordan. We'll be able to tell you if its genuine or counterfeit.
  10. Eek! Look forward to hearing from you soon Stu. Have a good one.
  11. Beautiful lustre! Don't all rush at once…... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SCARCE-LUSTROUS-EARLY-MILLED-WILLIAM-IV-FARTHING-1837-/121527374271?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item1c4b9891bf
  12. Happy new year everyone. My very best wishes to you all.
  13. If you've correctly identified it as a 'Woolies' type, it will probably be a few years old at least. You'll notice its undated. I'm beginning to think it may be some kind of elaborate fake…...
  14. Found under a tree in Cheshire yesterday. BU. Unusual size too……...
  15. 'ACCUSE me of being a Mancunian'? Heavens! I may be from God's own city but I'll always be happy to stand shoulder to shoulder with my brothers and sisters across the way . What's wrong with being a Mancuian?….
  16. Chin up old bean. If you've been good in this life, maybe next time you'll be born in Liverpool . (Just pulling your leg)…...
  17. There are people on here more qualified than I am to answer this one……
  18. Hi Arthur. My 1745 Lima shilling has the same overdate (attached).
  19. The reverse certainly looks to have wear on the high points, doesn't it. Nice obverse though.
  20. RS do a wide range starting at £1.19 + VAT for a box of 250, if that helps. For anyone desperate to fill their home with kilos of useless metal this must be nirvana!
  21. But its not good. Its washers. Washers for washers prices. Nothing clever. Nothing a bargain.
  22. Peckris: Pffft. If it wasn't for the port of Liverpool you'd still be eating moss. You tell 'em Chris!
  23. What are these luxuries you consider to be exclusively yours but have been stolen from you by the people of Merseyside? Twopenny washers?
  24. I'm 'ex' Liverpool. Been in South West Wirral for 20 years.
