  1. The big negative of having a few slabbed coins is the amount of space they take up
  2. The photo is spot on Brian and well spotted. Not sure about the shirt though
  3. Its a good point Mike and another reason to view the coin and make the decision by seeing the coin in hand IMO.
  4. Thanks Ian. What i meant really but did not explain is if i just remove some and nothing underneath ,but without using any chemical etc.
  5. So does that mean it wont come back Ian ?.
  6. In some instances the verd has been removed and then sent for slabbing ,this means that at the time of grading wasnt there but always the chance of it coming back over a short period of time . The coin is not going to get any better. If your not happy break it out and remove it ,alternatively just have a quick look every few months
  7. Your the expert on these Ian and have not got mine to hand , will have to check Maybe John (CHINGFORD) will confirm
  8. Also apears to be the dot on Gratia variety I am sure someone will confirm ,have you got a picture of the reverse Richard please ?.
  9. I doubt you would get a refund after a few weeks and as you say you hadnt noticed it either. I would break it out and resub mit it to auction or sell privately . Alternatively you could just keep it Do you have a picture please ?.
  10. Some pennies are unique / extremely rare but the 1933 of which two out there will always be the one Hence the reason for the price paid a couple of months ago. Numerous others will or should be worth more than may be realised but dont have the same interest ,atleast the 1933 are both in this country and owned by true collectors.
  11. Although not my thing counting teeth that seems a big difference IAN
  12. Fantastic collection Mark and yes your probably right and one of the reasons some were good buys. As rare as the above coin is rare looks cleaned from the picture and a variety i would not buy . If its been worked on would cast a doubt
  13. Thank you Paul. For anyone interested there was not a second edition and the one i bought was just rebound
  14. It was a fantastic collection of which can be viewed on line. Think Gary (Jac) bought a few and the 1871 was mint
  15. Have you got one or looking for a good one Mike ?. Alfnail had one not long ago (IAN) although he may of sold it and i know someone selling a decent one A/UNC in a slab. Pete.
  16. P of Penny to Gap is easier to spot Mike
  17. Sorry if this got a bit boring and posted this morning to the same dealer. If anyone wants one in the future please PM me as sure i can get one for you
  18. No Mike the same coin that sold at LCA.
  19. Its been on the forum before Mike with close up pictures of the date
  20. Another decent copy £90 including postage. Will leave it up untill wednesday and then pass on
  21. Yes although prices may be high for some high quality coins some are cheap and i keep buying them to put away especially varieties. I dont need to say which but the one year i have looked at daily 1934 slabbed UNC at £50 is an example. Another year 1907 twenty seven have been graded but only one as 80 £125 i am not saying thats cheap or what its worth but the other twenty six were probably sent by people who thought the coin was nice. In UNC problem free CGS £75 i think is quite hard to find.
  22. Looking through these that i have left. Coin news August 2006 rather than throw it away has the auction article about the Laurie Bamford sale. £4 including postage if anyone wants it. Includes the 1863 Die 2 picture and 1897 Dot picture etc. Pete.
  23. I am brain lacking Brian but still agree with your post...Matt is spot on
  24. Obviously not a recent issue and i am sure they get hundreds of enquiries. Currently a coin being sold on ebay with a royal mint letter dated 1980 with apologies for the delay in the reply
  25. Well i can only say what i have bought cheaply . It was with regards rejected coins and these will sell if left in a slab cheaper more often than not. If as the ones i bought had been unslabbed i would of probably paid more, the post was that if a coin has a yellow ticket it does not generate as much interest.
