  1. Was only joking. Suppose being in a top floor flat helps as looking out of the window in an unadopted road means the only thing i can see is rivington pike about twenty miles away . The benefits of a high rise in salford
  2. Its like any auction you dont know how high someone else was prepared to go. But was definately a good buy
  3. So lucky to have nice views. If i look out of my window just see police vans and burnt out cars
  4. Yes i read that Richard sold at a small auction house ,think a copper 1860/59 was sold in the same one with some lustre. I wondered if it was the same one as the LCA one . Looking again it must be the same one and whoever bought the medals aswell seems to have got them for a really good price
  5. Hi Chris and welcome to the forum. I assume your royal mail is a typo unless first day covers do you mean royal mint. If so i hope i dont dissapoint you but unless limited they may just be coins / box sets sold in the thousands. Can you let the forum know what you have ?.
  6. I would feel of more value to Art collectors. Its like autographs or anything else put on a note. Plus the Art collectors tend to spend more IMO.
  7. The colour of the buns is toning and different metal mix IMO i have sold a few really high grade but black. The latter dates including 1932 not any real explanation and the 1932 IAN B has maybe he can put a picture up as i havent got it anymore and did not take a picture
  8. Dave they would not retone it without looking different it would be similar to putting in a purple dip I have had numerous dates 1932/37/48 that are different in colour (Purple) i have sold, some described afterwards by dealers as mint toned. Pete.
  9. Do you mean its identified as Rang Tang ?.
  10. 1872 scarce/ harder date to find and decent grade. Gouby BP1872Ab slabbed by cgs 70. CGS say £175. To keep to forum rules £100 plus postage Struggling to download cgs pictures but if your interesred please PM me. Pete.
  11. I have been told they were treated after striking but not sure. Also that as there were none struck for 1933 they did not want people hoarding a relatively low mintage that the royal mint thought had happened in 1932. Apparently this was printed in a book but i cant find it
  12. Thats a good start would just use a gentle pick with some vaseline in a tiny amount now on the green bits Even a gentle bit of persuasion with vaseline and a lint free cloth and then a quick dip in distilled water and a tiny amount of extra virgin olive oil. Hat off
  13. Thank you for the replies . I have asked a few people but nobody seems to be sure. If i get an answer that stacks up i will post Pete.
  14. Thats a good one Jon and would send for slabbing . I have sent you my address so you can send something possibly worse
  15. Fantastic job and hat off to you Brian you have a lot more patience than me and a good eye. Pete.
  16. Think the phrase is................ Tighter than paint Anyway sure you have sent me a nice christmas present so thank you in advance
  17. Yes a believe there is a couple of people from the west midlands with short arms and deep pockets
  18. Its just daft ,although finding a really worn 1967 Penny is probably really hard As far as your coins Jon they are spot on so not for you to slab and sell them as RANG
  19. Going back to the Mint Toned coins as cant find any information elsewhere ,does anyone know why the 1934 was Mint Toned please ?. Pete.
  20. I have just had a look at my own both 14 & 15 leaves and numerous pictures of others. IMO for what its worth i just think it is normal
  21. Yes and thats what i meant by should of read the description The picture of the slab didnt mention 2 MM. I assume as you have not posted before the coin was yours and i apologise.
  22. As you say Paul its a common year but you dont need to look for a better one its quality
  23. From the picture could it not be a flaw or possibly a crack that appears to run to the rim ?.
  24. Teach me to read the description properly ,the low tide through me rather than 2 MM
  25. Think as far as collecting coins goes this is probably the daftest thing i have ever heard that people will pay more for the lowest grade possible
