  1. Does not seem to be much happening on the forum recently. One that is toned which normally i would keep away from as its really dark and the photo not the best. IMO is a nice even tone and a nice strike. 1861 F22 4+D and again c.g.s. 4231 Pete.
  2. Read the article with interest ,i have quite a few with the royal mint letters. Hard to put a price on a coin that is really looked at being a curiosity. For that reason you can get caught up in a coin you consider scarce but i feel the market is small and therefore does not increase the resale value.
  3. Get well soon Mrs peter and look after her when mrs peter comes home mate.Sure everything will be ok.
  4. Show a photo please of the other side and that should be enough.
  5. Your coin appears to be the older 50p and therefore bigger, is the other side normal. Otherwise IMO its been in acid or corroded . Thanks for posting. Pete.
  6. Hi. Have you got a picture ?.
  7. Thanks for the reply john.
  8. Been mentioned and would like to ask before i put the coin away. Apart from the belly button its a P.T. and the die clash .The feature to the left of the shield and the belly button should not be there. Can anyone see other features on the reverse of this penny ?. Thanks pete.
  9. I hope its not another looney this coin seems to attract them.
  10. Not sure if its an error mate if its post mint.
  11. Not got a clue ,maybe coppers is right and makes sense. Horrible coin though.
  12. Just a quick thanks to jelida for filling a gap with a 1863 open 3 penny. Another thanks to mark who i bought an 1857 P.T. already slabbed. CGS19251
  13. Quality spot on that is one that makes looking for nice coins all worthwhile.
  14. Hat off jac thats a good example.
  15. Hopefully i have an 1863 open 3 off jerry as been looking a while although feel the prices are dropping as people keep finding them. One again off neil paisley 1806 incuse hair curl with a nice tone(picture not the best) cgs 33055
  16. Nice coin for a scarce halfpenny hat off.Did you buy it in the uk ?. I have seen one same grade from australia from someone i bought a couple of pennies off also NGC graded.
  17. Yes brg pictures are quality and always look spot on.
  18. yes mate you can throw that away. keep looking and learning and dont be to keen on buying any until your sure you will be happy with your puchase.
  19. Think its down to how scarce the coin is as mentioned earlier. I dont mind rim nicks/edge knocks if the strike is ok and i cant find a better one. I wouldnt buy anything that has been cleaned and not keen on verd or carbon spots. Only buy pennies and some with a lot of lustre show signs of handling and not really bothered about that either. I have a really nice 1858 large rose penny with small date a couple of nicks but the strike is nice and problem free.
  20. Welcome to the forum. A lot of people on here with the knowledge to help you and offer advice. I have spent hours looking at old posts/topics and still do always something to learn. Pete.
  21. He might of been prepared to pay more bob and thats what i would of been happy at. Although me bidding got you a bit more i suppose.
  22. Thanks Bernie. Their are a whole lot of followers listed. I assume they are waiting till the last few minutes to bid. Somehow I thought if the item did not end with a Buy It Now then it might fetch lot more. The other mules on ebay are struggling to fetch £600 but they are TB/BB I put the other bid in jac, just put £650 in and turned it off.
  23. Thank you. I think we take the books for granted and made me wonder how we could of possibly collected or studied bronze coins without them.
