Most who have expressed an opinion so far seem to be for leaving, the bookies are currently as short as 4/1 on that we stay, for what it's worth

I believe it's until there's only 1 bidder left in, so it will vary for each coin

Dave, when searching on eBay for a particular coin, look at 'Sold Listings' - in theory this will show what people have actually paid for the item in question. Rarely will this be multiples of what the guide price is for the grade advertised. eBay is always worth a trawl for bargains if you have the time, but is not normally recommended as the best place to find problem-free examples in high grade. Use dealers, coin fairs and traditional coin auctions when wanting to make 'keeper' purchases, and 'research before you buy'

Thanks for you comments and set-up description @brg5658, I must admit that the thread title 'Coin Pics' does not make it obvious that the topic is coin photography! I have found that I have had my best results with daylight LED lamps, but maybe that's simply because it involves less knowledge of, and fiddling with, white balance settings ... This is a topic which I believe matters a great deal

I have I think incrementally improved my photo set-up now with the addition of a second LED daylight lamp. The 2 are positioned at roughly 2 o/c and 9 o/c with the camera lens pointing directly above but the tripod at 6 o/c. I retain my belief that great pics are crucial in distance buying and selling transactions, and that more attention needs to be paid to the quality of the pics on offer by sellers, dealers, and auction houses.. Would you prefer the pics at the top (previous best set-up, with 1 LED DAYLIGHT lamp), or those below (new set-up), if you were considering acquiring this coin?,

For me, as a type collector, it has been a joy to stray into the area of proofs for a particular design. Right now I limit myself to proof designs that were also issued into circulation, maybe one day I will also collect patterns etc. Part of the appeal for me is the aesthetic appearance of the coin, another part is that the coin has circulated amongst civil war soldiers (for example), like many Charles I half crowns. I have a barrier at the moment for coin designs that were never issued, can't quite reconcile those ... but that's just me. I'll be going after some proof GIV - Viccy very soon

COA's for replica or fantasy coins - I don't buy or collect them so I don't know why it bothers me, but it does
