  1. CGS need to address this, enquiries are afoot. It's a fantastic reference resource and it would be a shame (and stupid) if non-members (not to mention existing members!) could not verify coins without paying a substantial fee. Here is Guy's 1903 'Closed 9 in Date' Penny, as an example:
  2. Out of interest do the American TPGs attribute the variety to the likes of these, or is this another case where they simply state that it's a GB penny, and the year - and collectors have to spot the variety through the slab?
  3. Blimey, I hope it's genuine!
  4. Coin envy as usual Brandon, where do you find these??
  5. He means 0.25p is 240% greater than 0.25d
  6. Got mine today too, thanks Pete
  7. Hi Coinery, welcome to the Forum! I'm guessing you are Guy, we exchanged emails recently? We have another member called Coinery (not The Coinery), Stuart, but he is taking a break from the Forum at the moment ...
  8. Paid and thank you
  9. I'll take those pls Pete
  10. My ongoing poverty is certainly assured, it will doubtless be a moving feast! Thankfully not a died in the wool completist!
  11. A circulating design example of every silver denomination for every English monarch Henry VII to George VI is my current goal!

Thanks Stuntman, that does look to be a nice one!
  13. Yes, love it, Henry VII is one of my next targets and I would be delighted with that!
  14. The inconsistency bothers me (across the board), but I guess it's inevitable at the top end, trouble is it can involve a lot of money ...

Any silver denomination in problem-free VF or better please
  16. Well that's a bonus, like Rob said. more impressive on a smaller flan!
  17. It was tails. honestly!!
  18. Go on then Pete!
  19. Boo, did you not have any pics to go on before you bought it? I find the CGS population database very valuable as a resource, but their early pics are rubbish and some have no pics (as pics used to be an optional extra), perhaps the case with yours? Personally for my slabbed coins (< 1% of my collection), I need decent pics, else I lose all connection with them!
  20. Let's see pics MBE, you know the rules! As I said, I also wanted a nice Viccy halfpenny copper example, and this is what I have gone for
  21. With you on this Colin, I believe there are several valid reasons why people (including experienced dealers and collectors) may want to get a coin slabbed, the reason you cite being one of them
  22. I am mean! Yes, on reflection I would grade it a smidge higher than Fine, approaching GF (lol)
