  1. so we got recut A and a die flaw easy this lark
  2. I see that effect more on 1908 worn pennies
  3. as common as they may be, no 2 dies would crack exactly the same. it is wheather the sideways N exists on all 1860 with that crack, it is tiny features like that that help find these varieties if you are not sure afterall.
  4. we all know the KN planchet, you can spot a KN penny from a mile off just looking at the obverse, however a strange one happened today, bought a bunch of coins (was a nice VF+ first type george was 1917 but thatw as by the by) as in packaging it came in stapled stuff to keep them seperate, however this one red looking worn penny had moved behind the 1917, (so i couldn't see the date) first thing i thought was, hey a KN, got in... took it out, turned it over... 1919, no letters at all. now i possibly have seen old 1912 H filter through to 1913. but never something like this. screenshots will come at some point soon BUT was wondering if anyone knows about such things.
  5. more fun with hammered is the bubblewrap
  6. ahh yes, still one i am looking for, HOWEVER that die crack looks like a distinguishing feature.
  7. and here is me getting 1 old penny out of 3 envolopes... yes THREE lol
  8. 91.67% copper, 8.33% nickel Copper doesnt do that. dunno how nickel works in water.
  9. depends, Shipwreck coins are not made of these metals, but i don't think it could be damaged like that in the time either
  10. i like that design but its more common then most Aussie florins of the period.
  11. very nice, that sort of error isn't cheap.
  12. i think there are few minor differances between 3's as well.
  13. VG-8? i think it is better then VG-8
  14. do some Research, manage your budget and visit ebay once you have a focus and know what you are looking for. have a look there, there is usualy the odd bargain to be had. but it does depend on focus, some varieties can be found for very little cash at dealers or at car boot sales (talking worn pennies/halfpennies/farthings), well it depends on the dealer, generally the average sellier will not know of varieites or bother checking through worn stuff either. so a £50-100 coin can be found for mere pence. a nice coin will resell, but if you pay top whack, it won't make a profit. so look out for varieties of things, those are your money makers.
  15. worth a punt for having a look at comparison wise.
  16. one mans bargains is anot... MY satin 19
  17. junk? nah, only bargains for me
  18. ohh very nice, should really get one of these.
  19. we really need a referance or something with all these side by side. including halfpennies. and stickied. i have plenty of worn pennies as well, no idea on dies etc, some are obvious of course others not so.
  20. whats junk you selling then?
  21. it is dutch the other one, can't really see much else to identify it with with that photo, just google what you see as there are a few types
  22. "piller" because of the design on them, minted in mexico. period is correct, research the information about the wreck would shed more light on it.
  23. got a halfpenny that is slightly out, cant remember where i put it to have a quick look though
  24. damned people, they spotted the 1862 halfpenny with A die letter i bid on with half an hour to go, da hell? try changind best match to ending soonest, why ebay set it to best match i dunno, but it obliterates the searches/
  25. yes that is spanish, seen a couple on ebay recently being with the bunch of coins you said, then it fits.
