    The incredibly-rare Henry VII groat of Calais mint sold by a country cottage!! I never thought I'd see one of these in my lifetime.

    There's got to be more than one person willing to pay a premium, as they wouldn't reach this price otherwise. As for why, I'm not sure. This one sold for £320.

    The buyer seems to have spent at least a hundred or even three hundred on every enamelled piece he's bought.

    Apparently no offer has been brought to the table, so nothing's yet set in stone. I'll be keeping a keen eye on how this pans out.

    'Stylised A' mintmark on this fine detailed VF obverse! Saxby's has always been a byword for things to avoid IMHO. Thankfully the listings always used to be obvious and so easily avoided. Not looked recently though. I'll have a few Matildas if you don't mind. Well, maybe not. They always list continental hammered coins as "British found" which was fine, until their eBay feedback showed bulk purchases of coins from the continent...
