  1. Works fine for me. Are you still experiencing issues?
  2. Aww. His mommy probably loved him. And this was probably her : Leopold_I_coin_2.jpg
  3. Whilst the Monogram issue isn't renowned for its great portrait they're not normally as bad as this...
  4. 'Stylised A' mintmark on this fine detailed VF obverse! Saxby's has always been a byword for things to avoid IMHO. Thankfully the listings always used to be obvious and so easily avoided. Not looked recently though. I'll have a few Matildas if you don't mind. Well, maybe not. They always list continental hammered coins as "British found" which was fine, until their eBay feedback showed bulk purchases of coins from the continent...
  5. Another conveniently misidentified coin by Saxby's. First they were selling buckets of Edward V pennies, now coins of Matilda...
  6. You're going to lend me yours, Peter? How much whisky have you had tonight?
  7. I just got an email from Warwick & Warwick saying the following: Now, I don't know about you, but I don't consider 400 miles away as "in my area"... There's a gremlin in the system as I certainly didn't enter my location incorrectly.
  8. Peter has retired due to ill health. But a gentleman called Geoff designed and made the first cabinets with Peter in the 1960's is working alongside the son, Ben, who is a partner making the cabinets in Nottingham. It's still going strong!
  9. Most dealers there I'd never heard of, Clive, and looking them up afterwards quite a few have no internet presence at all, which is remarkable. Quite old school in a way - it almost felt a bit "underground", compared to the mainstream I'm used to swimming in. Welcome to the dark side, old chap.
  10. Blimey, Declan. Whose stock did you run off with?
  11. Paddy took 2 stuffed dogs to the 'Antiques Roadshow'. "Ooh!" said the presenter, "This is a very rare set, produced by the celebrated Johns Brothers taxidermists who operated in London at the turn of the 20th century. Do you have any idea what they would fetch if they were in good condition?" "...Sticks?" Paddy replied.
  12. Matt England's striking history would be an excellent purchase as it illustrates the different classes and mint id's.it is also a bargain and written in an interesting manner. I'm not a fan of the Striking History book at all, personally I'd choose Galata's guide over this. It is much more detailed and accurate. From a quick glance, it looks like a class 3g.
  13. How have you communicated with eBay? I've always found that by phone is the easiest way to get my point across. Assertively, of course... It was by phone Clive, strange things have been Happening though, cash is back in the PP account, account holders name has changed yet i can still see this Kelly T on the PP item details. But Hold the fort, i thought things were all rosey, but nope. Bought a lot in auction 2 weeks ago, in total 73 proof coins, 63 of them were piedfort 50ps, a Rather small packet arrives today (bear in mind these were all in the original cases) and 57 of them were not there how the hell is that possible? So have you got the money back from the half-sov, David? It should be easy to get a refund for the proofs & piedforts, as Peckris says. A claim with eBay or PayPal should sort that.
  14. Or a brazen criminal.
  15. How have you communicated with eBay? I've always found that by phone is the easiest way to get my point across. Assertively, of course...
  16. From the same seller who has a listing stating: "also do not levee bad feedback until you have contacted me fist" That's hilarious, probably a BNTA member I should imagine There are only two rules about Fight Club... Either that or an angry Scotsman.
  17. From the same seller who has a listing stating: "also do not levee bad feedback until you have contacted me fist"
  18. Somehow this sounds like a threat, as it's not fact...
  19. A nice coin, Matt! It's definitely one of Blencoe's, I would recognise that finger and background anywhere. I would definitely suggest you get Withers' The Pennies of Edward I and II. It's a book that runs right from the basics through to the detailed subclassing. You can read more about it here.
  20. Looks more like a Celtic bronze unit to me. There are types of Eppilus with that eagle motif.
  21. Daniel, Yes, a couple of mms isn't anything to be too concerned about. Clive.
  22. Keep us updated if you would, I'm intrigued.
  23. Fair enough. Taking into account the later addition of the rings, maybe 1890-1930?
  24. Bowls/dishes with coins in are pretty common and don't often fetch much as the coin is inevitably harshly cleaned or polished. Whilst I have never seen one with a copy of a seal in the 19th and 20th century electrotype copies are often found in auctions and at fairs. For an impression to be put into the dish like this is most probably a decorative feature and taking into account the fact it's impressed and not attached/joined to the bowl, along with the rings I would suggest this is mid-20th century. An interesting piece. Something you'd probably find on the beams in an old bar in Bruges.
