  1. Cast crap! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Obs-Newark1946-Coin-Hammered-1646/113414575485
  2. Likewise again. I may not always post daily but i visit regularly, been watching this one. Definitely a scoundrel. Has anyone got any leverage with CCF? Might be worth posting it up on there as they have an excellent track record of getting these pulled.
  3. Couple of additions to my Maundy pennies.
  4. Its Spink listing in the 2015 edition of coins of Scotland , Ireland and the islands is 5062. Value in fine is £150 going upto £525 in VF. Nice find by the way.
  5. I got a bottle a few weeks ago from wizard coin supplies on eBay. Was expensive but it arrived fast and was fully tracked from USA right to my door. I haven't used it yet but will do this week as i have a Gunmoney Crown that's got a small spot of verd on it that needs removing. Distilled water and acetone did not work.
  6. My initial reaction also when it was first uploaded but i waited to see if someone else would comment in case i was being paranoid. It just looks too new modern.
  7. Both gone now. Nice one 👍
  8. So has the Commonwealth fake. Great work guys. Thanks 👍
  9. Thankfully at that price most buyers will be experienced collectors who can spot a cast fake. It is quite awful as far as copies go. I've reported it and the one above for all the good it will do. Heres another dodgy one that needs reporting https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Unresearched-1650-Commonwealth-Hammered-Silver-Coin-26mm-4-29g/292771820191
  10. I'd agree with that Paddy i think thats correct. 👍
  11. Am struggling too. I thought at first glance it was 4 down on the right but on closer inspection i can see thats RAUL and not RVLA.
  12. Arrrrr. Those dreaded bilge rats at the danbury mint be needing a good keel hauling!
  13. Definitely class 4a of Richard.
  14. Both crackers them Paddy. Love em!
  15. I reported that the day it came on eBay. They will do bugger all as they earn a fortune from their crooked sales. Here's another one flogging the same bluish toned rubbish. I wonder if they are all connected to the same person. That one me and jerry reported to trading standards is selling the same stuff. http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/handsofhistory/m.html?item=332808006169&redirect=mobile&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  16. Ooomf. Deary me. What a wreck. Looks like a Lizzie halfgroat also.
  17. That got me as well Stu lol even though i knew what it meant from Rhuddlan coins. Doh! Glad you've got a solution Badger. Do look on that link i posted as it also covers contemporary imitations. It might also be worth contacting the owner of the site with images of it. He may be able to offer a bit more information on it. Best wishes Stu.
  18. It does indeed. On thinking back now his teeth were awful and he was always back n forth the dentist. Can't imagine the damage it must of done to his enamel.
  19. Nothing surprises me anymore .A bit off topic but it just came back into my mind when i read this. Years ago i had a mate who i hung round with. We'd been out on the lash and i crashed at his on the sofa. I got up in the morning and he was gargling over the sink with Flash multi purpose cleaner. I was like are you seriously gargling with that he was like yeah i always do it mate it clears all the little gremlins out your mouth that you get when you've been on the lash. Needless to say we called him Flash from that day on. Life is strange indeed.
  20. Just realised what you meant. So me seeing Ioan which i presumed is John is actually the reverse image. Some of the imitation coins where complete gobble de gook. People back then were pretty much illiterate so as long as the coin looked similar it was accepted as being 1d or legal tender so to speak , even the die cutters were illiterate. I suspect somewhere on that website there will be a similiar coin. It is at present a continental imitation unless someone else can provide anymore insight into it with an exact ID. You could take it to your local FLO i suppose, they may have the answer. It's not an area i am fully familiar with unfortunately. It could also be an error coin but the portrait does not look quite right. Got me puzzled lol. Anyone else got any ideas? Is it a mistrike of some sort?
  21. Looks like a continental sterling. Possibly John of Brabant or John the blind. It definitely reads Ioan .Try looking on here https://www.sterlingimitations.com
  22. If he manages to get them all looking different colours he might just succeed in fooling a lot of people. That gun metal blues his trademark. Doesn't look like trading standards have moved on him.....Yet! Hopefully building a case.
  23. If you opt for the softback edition it can be sourced here slightly cheaper http://www.coinsofbritain.com/pages/books/books.asp?cat=2
  24. This is a good one. http://www.galata.co.uk/store.asp?storeAction=showDetail&stockID=6511
  25. Great analysis Rob. Thank you.
