I've had one of those too, in fact I sold it to the forum member Master JMD. I've seen other dealers listing them too, so it appears that there are a few very very prooflike 1995 farthings out there. It will attract a premium over normal farthings of that date, as it's probably a very early strike. I don't think you could call it a proof though.

A friend of mine in Germany says that he likes the way that the British head of state is above politics, unlike the president of Germany who is elected and basically a member of the Labour party. I live here, and Horst Köhler seems a nice enough chap, he goes around making speeches and commending people for doing brave things, patting babies, meeting the Pope, heads of state and such like. Apart from that though, he's pretty pointless and has absolutely zero razzmataz! Compared to Her Maj, he's just a man in a suit.

There are lots of rare and extremely rare coins in the book already. I don't think it would call for a separate book if that's what you meant. It may confuse the public (like with the 1983 mule 2p for example). I was thinking of having some kind of checklist in the book, perhaps with boxes to tick when the coin is in possession, and space after every type for notes. But then I thought that once someone has used a book to tick what they have and make notes they may be unlikely to buy a newer one because they'd have to re-copy all the info. Any thoughts?

You can install programmes on your server to prevent hotlinking, which is when other people make webpages that link to your pictures and thus use your bandwidth with no benefit to you.

I do intend to push further back in time, but it will be quite a task to get all the images together I suspect. The 2008 edition will be re-type set and will make better use of colour, perhaps having a colour coded outside page margin for each denomination and generally a more modern look.

A photograding website for each type is something I've always wanted to do in order to give people an idea and protect them. Lack of time is my biggest problem.

For people that simply want to ask a question and don't want to register I have left registration non compusary. Every time we are spammed I ban the whole IP range of the spammer, but it's a loosing battle, they simply hijack other mail servers and get their spam bots (it's all automated, there are no actual people doing it) to spam me from there. The only reason they do it is in the hopes that google and other major search engines see it and rank their pages. They used to register and then spam from a registered account, but I vet all registrants now and rarely let people become members that are based in China, Korea, Russia, the Ukraine and several other No.1 spam lands. I delete it straight away throughout the day, so there is probably lots of spam that only I see!

It's a London Coins thing (although they are very much in Kent). I'm sort of half trying to ignore it, hoping it will go away! They will have an uphill struggle to get a reputation equal to the far from perfect PCGS and ANACS on the other side of the pond.

Quite often coins sell for higher than catalogue price especially when they are choice condition scarce/rare coins, or often even absolutely perfect coins of any date. The best of the best often attracts a premium, and because the best of the best are not sold as often as the rest, they are in huge demand, hence the wild prices.

I've got an early GV 'silver' penny. It's very bright, too bright to be actual silver. And the details are not as sharp, implying that it has a thick layer of another metal on it. I suspect yours is the same, but I'm sure we can confirm if you post pictures.

They were probably ok 8 years ok, unless it was old stock. I heard that the recent ones were ok. Does it have a maker name on them at all? See if you can find out who makes them for WHS.

£10 is expensive, usually they are about £2 - £3 (last time I looked). Don't they damage the coins though? As a dealer I have bought a number of collections including filled Whitman folders. Generally the coins have been toned unevenly and on a few ocassions bronze disease had occured on a few of the dowward facing sides of pennies.

Yes, I think there are some 1798 pattern coins and earlier dates too, plus all kinds of later proof after strikes in various metals. I think the 1797 coins were still being struck in 1802, but always with the 1797 date. I'd have to check Peck.
