Trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. Firstly this is my attempt to photograph a coin rather than scan and secondly this coin seems to have developed reasonable toning.

Any comments would be useful especially regarding the photography. The coin was photographed using a tripod mounted  Panasonic DMX -TZ20 camera in aperture priority mode f3.5 and 1/60s and side illuminated using 2 LED light sources.

A little bit too much glare for me, it's saturating the details of the coin so it's hard to ascertain a grade.

I'd try bumping up to f11 and 1/125 or something near that to kill a little bit of the light, or move the LEDs around a bit and play with it to see how it comes out.

The colour of your light might help too, I find the white hues bring out silver better. Looks like you might already have them though..

Have you seen Brandon's post on photographing coins? That helped me a lot.

What a wonderful coin the even toning shows this off nicely.:)

I love that W&M design, both obverse and reverse.  A halfcrown, I presume, or is it a crown?

Tis a halfcrown

I do too. First time I've seen it. :)

This thread seems to have gone very quiet so here are two new additions. The 1917 seems to be a weak Obverse strike and the 1887 has a few bag marks but the fields are superb in hand:

Some major appeal on the reverses there especially!

Not sure if I have posted this one before on here, grading opinions? (Halfcrown)
