And it looks better in the hand than the scans show :(

Yes - a magnified scan knocks off up to a whole grade in my experience. So I'd say that was a clear EF. In hand it might prove even better.

Well that sort of confirms my thinking to me in the hand it looks AUNC, from the scan it said EF :)

cheers

Good VF-nEF. The lion's nose on the issue tends to be well struck up unlike the previous issue. 1925 shilling as an example.

What grade is that one, Rob?

It was unc for wear, but with two small rim marks and a bagmark either side.

An iPhone overall NEF from me! :)

Do you have viber for the iphone Stuart? Freecalls to anyone and anywhere in the world if they also have it installed (like moi) also another good wee app is Touch (sounds all pornographic now) viber and touch lol Anyhoo Touch is like a free messenger and you can send small files/pics/sms/video etc to another touch user worldwide free of charge. 1926 GVF for me, wear to the Lions tail and nose as was poointed out. OBV being better then the REV

I think you can set your iPhone to viber instead of ring if you're somewhere where a ring tone would be a nuisance :D

Noooo, none of the techi stuff on mine, bit of a ludite really, though I'm amazed at what you can get nowadays (I barely speak to anyone, so not sure what I would do with all that free technology :D)! I spotted the flattened end on the tail (even on the phone), but still couldn't bring myself to pull it back to less than NEF because of the globe, paws, etc...it really is borderline for me though. On balance I wouldn't be that unhappy if it came to me blind as a NEF!

There's a bit of wear to the lions front paw so I'd go GVF for the Reverse although the Obverse is better

IMO, this coin is GEF and the softness at the front paw, nose, and G5's hair is strike softness. Technically probably mint state and been in a bag for a while.

The fields look although good but there is a small ding at 8 o'clock the strike is not the best.NEF would be on the money for me.

Wow, a range from GVF to a 'technical' mint state. We've never had such a wide range of opinion before! Just goes to show how particularly difficult the silver series from 1920 to 1926 is to grade accurately.

Sorry I don't agree about the paw, it's a flat angular plane. That's wear.

"There should not be focal wear if this was due to time in a bag or light circulation and in a case where the metal did not fill it may appear flat, esp. with an harder alloy. "Newsweek Stands By its Story".
