The H is not really there. It's because your mind is so used to seeing an H that you are automatically putting one there. If you look really close you can see that it is just a figment of your imagination.

From the 8 bidders for the shilling down to the 1882h 1d I think there is a vast vat of just plain dumbness.I got negative feedback for picturing and describing a photoframe...and yes I sized it and it was in my daughters hand...what more can you do.Just accept there are so many fools out there to keep you rich....anyone want a loan....only 2,675%apr....ok and I want to buy your gold and sell you diamond brite for your car. ;)

Strangely, the main item description says it's "no H" but the detailed description says it's "2 over 1", so I guess it is just a mislabelled item. The H is so clear it couldn't in all seriousness be claimed to be one. I think it's just a slip up. I'm surprised there were no bids - it's a handsome enough high grade 1882H which deserves more than 99p. If I'd seen it I'd have bid on it.

The same guy is selling a high grade 1870 with quite a few bids on. The only weird thing about that description is the rarity rating - "SCARCE" (correct) "101 - 200 specimens" (oh come on!! get real, there's many more than that even of 1869s and 1871s!!!)

Then Michael must be talking about numbers in that particular grade, in which case the seller should have made that clear. There are many many more 1870 pennies around than those figures suggest - and as I say, there are many many more 1869s and 1871s than that.

The date is on the edge. Mind you, in my experience the coin has to be well above average for this to be actually visible. Don't think I'll be bidding...

Typical US-based dealer, if its prior to the 1800s and still in relatively readable shape it must be uncirculated! And the coin is clearly circulated too! It isn't like some coins where you are scratching your head to find where the wear is! And the price too! (And to be honest, not sure if I really like the toning, looks too much like lichens/moss on stone for my tastes.) The rest of his coins are similarly overgraded, he considers a Mercury dime with most of the date, motto, and Liberty worn off to be XF! Not to mention that even in XF condition the coin is still overpriced!

This sort of "thing" needs a hole drilled through it and put under a dripping tap.

Why on earth does it have 5 bids up to £3.99 already? Intrinsic value based on the spot copper price is 2.3p ish, less refining costs to remove the crud. Collectable it is not.
