DaveG38 Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Here's another ebay rarity. Only 456,364,100 struck - wonder how many need to be struck to be common? I know its in the US, but really.........http://cgi.ebay.com/UK-Great-Britain-RARE-...1QQcmdZViewItem Quote

Rob Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 "Good condition for it's age"The portrait is worn, apparently. If the physical statistics given are correct it could be a forgery. If you reduce the dimensions to an average diameter of say 26mm to allow for the irregular shape and given that the inner circle is about 22mm diameter, then the weight of 3.8g is about 20% less than it should be at just over 4.5g. Still not worth chasing though. Quote

Rob Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Gilt Proof Twopence?Penny might be more appropriate As far as the pictures allow attribution, I think it is a Peck 1130. If not, it's a current piece (P1133) subsequently gilded. Quote

Peter Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Lovely grading and an avid Rotographic reader. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/British-1885-Victori...1QQcmdZViewItem Quote
Chris Perkins Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I noticed that the other day and you have reminded me to have a word! I've asked the seller that if he's going to quote my prices and get the grading so wrong, that I'd rather he quoted Spink prices! Quote
Chris Perkins Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I looked at them all. Diabolical over grading all round. Quote
Peter Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I don't profess to being a snob...comprehensive school education etc .....but the experience of the general public on EBAY and how I go thru life in general I really can't believe how THICK Mr average GB is.My rant is further extended by my 9 year olds daughters teacher who explains " Kate is above average in subjects" but fails to explain why my youngest is not aufait with her tables to 12x.I was at 7?The spellin gradine ant evethrwing alse ort to be sdortted mate. Chris Perkins Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 You're right, Mr Average anywhere is absolutely thick. The fact that we and other forum members can put a few sinsible sentences together is a lot more than most people. It comes down to effort too, people just don't make the effort either. Quote
