Rob Posted August 1 Posted August 1 That worked, but haven't posted for a few days. If this works, it might be hanging up on the timestamp Quote
Zo Arms Posted August 2 Posted August 2 I'm sure it just needs the batteries changing. I have a clock that plays up if the batteries are low. Not enough umff to push the second hand around. Or was it the spring.,......? 🤔 Quote
blakeyboy Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Yes, I just got the 403 forbidden page- just trying a small photo attached to a post..... Quote
blakeyboy Posted August 5 Posted August 5 I've tried three times since I posed...anyone got an idea about what works? Quote
Rob Posted August 5 Posted August 5 It's random. The only things rejected with greater frequency seem to be those with an attachment Quote
Paddy Posted August 5 Author Posted August 5 Just tried submitting a new topic in For Sale - same issue. I tried both with text and picture, then with just picture - same result. It seems I can only post text at the moment. Quote
Peckris 2 Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Someone had a theory that people who had made many attachments were the ones who can't post them now, which would explain why those 3 test attachments by a new poster worked. 1 Quote

It makes sense. I have only been posting a short while, and am still able to post pictures (which I reduce in size before posting). most recent were some more halfpenny ID queries (more halfpennies I bought in the lot with the E over B. Though I don't understand why so many forum members would be hitting a limit at the same time, unless there is an overall storage space issue in the background. Best Regards ! Quote
Martinminerva Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Has any progress been made with a fix for this? It's been quite a while now... Quote
Paddy Posted August 17 Author Posted August 17 I emailed Chris direct earlier today. I will let you know if I hear anything. 1 Quote
Paddy Posted August 18 Author Posted August 18 Interestingly my email to Chris has just bounced back after "repeated attempts to deliver" and a lot of other error messages indicating server failure at predecimal.com. Quote
Martinminerva Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Yes - when just trying to look at @Chris Perkins's website where he has coins for sale, all sorts of errors come up. Wonder if that's connected to the issues on this forum? I'll try to paste in a screenshot, but given the fault here often prevents attachments, I am not optimistic... Quote

I've emailed Chris too, quoting part of this message Paddy. Let's see if it gets to him, though I believe it's the site host that's looking into the problems ... Quote
Chris Perkins Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Hello! Ooo, that looks bad doesn't it. Same happens for me from the main predecimal.com root (without /forum/ etc). Sorry for being slow with this. I was away in GB for some of the time. The forum software is quite old now and could do with an update. The problem is, it requires a newer version of something in the background (php), which isn't normally an issue, but I know that other stuff won't work with the newer version. I think the way forward is to turn predecimal.com into just a forum. I don't really buy/sell coins at all anymore as it became less practical since brexit and also I wanted to concentrate on on the books and app, as they are so much simpler to manage, which is what I've been doing for some time. It should be possible to separate the forum, have it work from the root predecimal.com/ and upgrade everything in the background so that it all functions properly again. There may be some issues along the way that will need to be ironed out, but I don't really see an alternative. 8 Quote
Paddy Posted September 28 Author Posted September 28 It seems I have found another work round and it might explain why some people get errors and others don't. If I drag and drop the image into the post, I get the error. If I then delete the picture from the post, but leave it in the attached files at the bottom of the screen, it posts fine. So I tried it by not dragging and dropping but simply going to "choose files" to add the picture, and this also worked fine. So don't drag and drop, just choose file! 1 Quote
Peckris 2 Posted September 29 Posted September 29 (edited) test No, that isn't the case for me. I have ALWAYS used 'choose file' and never drag and drop, but haven't been able to attach a picture for months. I still think it's a case of how many attachments you've ever uploaded which is why newer members can attach while long time members can't. Edited September 29 by Peckris 2 Quote
Paddy Posted September 29 Author Posted September 29 Ah well, works for me and prior to this I also have been unable to post anything. Quote
