Paddy Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 This article on the BBC website today - a coin collection found under a hedge on an allotment in Cirencester. Some lovely things in there, including a lot of gold. Police are trying to trace the owner, in case anybody knows anything? https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-50207181 1 Quote
Rob Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Pity they don't list the contents with decent pictures because a combination of items in a particular grade would make tracing the owner much easier. Collectors often buy from only a few selected dealers, and with plenty of gold that will narrow down the options a lot. Quote

Otherwise any TDorH could claim it based on the publicised list. Quote

But any TDorH wouldn't have any proof of purchase for any of the items. It doesn't matter whether they came from a dealer or auction if records are kept. Quote

I have my database of coins saying when where and who sold them, but no receipts. Quote
