Sword Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 March LCA catalogue now online if anyone is interested, Quote
1949threepence Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Yes....for me, there's an interesting looking Freeman 21 1861 penny, which, were it not for significant flan flaws, would be a very nice piece. Also an 1861 "8 over wiry 6" Gouby AA. Not sure whether this could be classed as a F33A or not, to be honest. 1253 Penny 1861 8 over wiry 6, Gouby AA dies D+d, of the same style as the overdate pictures in Gouby page 41, with the underlying digit similarly positioned, but of a more wiry style Fair £50 - £100 Quote
Iannich48 Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 A few nice bronze pennies and halfpennies are in the catalogue. I have put in four bids this time. Fingers crossed, i need that nice rare florin. Quote
VickySilver Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Yikes, nada for me & seems not as many offerings there. Iannich - do you mean the 1854? Quote

You are probably already aware of this, but just in case not, there are quite a number of bronze pennies in the DNW auction of 20th - 21st February - being the last part of the Hiram Brown collection. Iannich48 Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Yes Vicky, i got outbid on a vf one last year, not by much, and that sold at £3000. Quote
Iannich48 Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Oh yes, i have two bids in at DNW too. Quote
Iannich48 Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 I hope that nobody minds if i mention that the 1845 half crown looks like an overdate. Any thoughts please? Thanks, Ian Quote
kjb Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Three bids in. Almost hope I dip out on them cos if I am successful I'll be skint until July! Quote
1949threepence Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Received an e mail earlier today from LCA, saying that they had added more pictures. Tried to go back into the March catalogue, but nothing doing. Can't get in. Just a blank page. Anybody else had an issue with it? Quote
Paddy Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Yes - same problem. No error message, just a blank page. Seems they have a problem! Quote
Sword Posted February 21, 2019 Author Posted February 21, 2019 It's working again. I think there were just updating the site. 1 Quote
1949threepence Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 I won both of the lots I bid for - first time I've ever won anything at a March LCA 1 Quote
Nonmortuus Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 First time I have bid on LCA lots but I won one of two I was after. Another type box ticked. 1 Quote
1949threepence Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Can't get through to pay. Either engaged tone, or no reply. Bound to be busy though. Quote
Nonmortuus Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Collecting mine from the Midland on Sunday 😀 Quote
Iannich48 Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 I won two of my four bids. Underbidder on the 1854 florin. Note to myself, should have gone higher. 1 Quote
1949threepence Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Just realised I received an e mail from LCA this morning and have paid into their bank account - once I'd managed to enlarge the tiny font in the banking details box. Quote

Iannich48 Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 I left a £1000 bid on the book for it, but you never know how much higher the winner might have gone. Quote
