My mother always treats me to a coin at Xmas and birthday.

As long as I can state my case we negotiate on the sum involved. :D.

if I get blown out of the sea at the auctions.....usually  it will be a Midland visit.

The 1860 Freeman 9, TB/BB mule is a bit tasty. Will need a large bid though. I also like the 1878 penny, pretty much BU.

The 1862/, 8/6, also looks like it is a 1862/1.......

I looked at that 8/6 coin and couldn't see the overstrike on it at all. It just looks like a normal date to me.

The picture of the same coin in the previous catalogue was better and traces of the 6 could be seen more easily. The 6 never shows up well in photographs (other than in UNC specimens) but the 2 is always wide in this variety, as per the LCA coin.

OK, thanks Rashenly. Not that I can afford it, anyway.

Bob, when I click on your facebook link I get a message that I'm not part of the audience for that page - any suggestions ?

Works OK for me ... nice to see that Martin and David are together at last :D

I just checked it, and it is ok. The page is setup to accept all viewers. There might be a situation where you have to "Like" the page...not sure about that though. Thanks for visiting! :)

ps Very noteworthy that Martin and Azda are shown together on the log, I know David feels very close with Martin! Ha,Ha!

I have read some of of MP's posts on facebook.

We ought to give him a big forum hug.

The guy certainly knows his stuff.

Come on MP if you are reading this come and join the bun fight.

I would welcome your input.

& get me off your banned bidders list.

He does know his stuff, and I have engaged with him a number of times on facebook. The only thing that does slightly irritate me about Martin, is that whatever images I (or anybody else) post of a given coin just bought, or whatever, he always has to go one better and post a pic of the best one he's got, or had.

But there's no denying he is extremely knowledgeable and helpful, on his terms.

I agree with Richard's comments about the LCA 1862 8 over 6 spacing being right for this variety. I attach close up pictures of the date on my own piece for members reference, the latter one taken with digital microscope in brilliant white light to better show the detail....but not the colour. I may well sell this coin once I see the LCA auction results as my 1861 8/6 is in better condition and suits me well enough for my Bronze collection.

Does anyone know how to look at the whole list as it shows up in the 'Auction Highlights'? I don't want to download the PDF or Excel file and I also don't want to look at them by category?

Mr P has me blocked since we had both "liked" another same page and had a brief discussion about his eBay dealings, don't think he liked that somehow :)
