George II Shilling
zookeeperz replied to Gaz T's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I don't know how many reverse types there are for this year but the lettering is far to modern for my liking. most of the 1734 have curved bottoms and the I's are very distinctive almost peg shaped . Lions in the shield a far too close to the shield border. And I would expect like with most of these coins from this era to show weakness in certain areas as opposed to that mono made to look wear that is completely uniform that is a trademark of cast coins. Might just be the picture but I wouldn't go for it. -
This must be his mate. He hit the jackpot , Notice not anywhere is it mentioned replica or silver. Deliberate to avoid being detected https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4pcs-1839-1847-Young-Head-Crowned-shiled-within-branches-Victoria-Dei-Gratia/162724717032

As the football season is in full swing every saturday I pick between 5 and 8 teams and put them in an accumulator hoping to strike a nice little earner. Sadly Close isn't close enough. 2 of my most recent bets that hit the cross bar only to lay dormant on the goal line

yes that would be about right. I suppose they are protected as well by being a sovereign nation?

1950 Penny Arrived this morning. Actually the picture apart from almost being same colour in the hand its much much nicer and is completely uniform in a very satiny bright luster and chestnut patina. I have never seen one like this before. Its stunningly good

The whole book is like that 120 but it is so hard to take pics of all at once for obvious reasons. All different metals all twinkling differently. I have passed the point of snapping every single one individually would take forever. seeing as I have 20 or so full books from all over the world

Does this not apply to ebay themselves. I think they are violating more than 1 code but definitely this one The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 Prohibition of the promotion of unfair commercial practices 4. The promotion of any unfair commercial practice by a code owner in a code of conduct is prohibited.

Perhaps we are not worthy. a Robin Hood outfit lols

Yes from the main site in the US. But they won't get any joy from ebay uk . I don't think they give a rats tbh. If it doesn't affect USA they aint bothered.

That route is an option but would it not be better to stop it at the source and that is ebay itself. They are allowing them to flourish. I have never seen 1 item I have reported to them be withdrawn. Only time I see that is if a genuine seller has made a mistake or been misinformed themselves. Ebay has a duty to protect everyone that uses the site. After all if they are not then all they are is a money laundering outfit nothing less. I just looked on the breakdown of trustpilot only the original ebay.com has 5/10 rating ebay.uk has 1.2/10 from 3235 reviews. Now that tells you something.

Absolutely. Remember the guy selling fake kew's? Over £7k it isn't if it is a 30p object now and then. This is fraud on a huge scale. look how many we find without really looking that close. When I searched for errors I had 48k listings and that was just on errors. How many of those are fakes and intentionally so ? something has to be done. Trust pilot rating of 5/10 and this company advertises on the UK tv network. I thought they had a strict standard of trade practices to be able to advertise on the TV?

I thought I would tag my letter under yours hope you don't mind I sent an email to the BM asking about the 1951 different colour issue boxes and here is the reply. Dear Mr Fox Please accept my apologies for the delay in response to your enquiries, dated 21 November. The 1951 Festival of Britain crown were issued in maroon and green cardboard boxes. Our records here at the Royal Mint Museum in Llantrisant give no specific reason why different coloured boxes were used, however the numbers of crowns sold at Southbank and in the banks is similar to the number sold in maroon and green boxes respectively. Unfortunately, there is no information to confirm this is the case, and it may be that this is simply a coincidence. Yours sincerely Fiona Trumper Public Engagement & Information Officer

I find that most annoying I have already reported this guy on several occasions yet there he is still committing fraud and ebay turn a blind eye yet again. Surely they are by an legal statute guilty by association are they not?

If you use any kind of formatting the site will not allow the post. You will be given an option to remove formatting and then it will post as normal

There is a way to reduce the kb size but still keeping the image 800x800 when you get the option to save save @ 95% even though it is 5% and doesn't really affect your pic quality the KB size is reduced by some margin my pic @ 800x800 was 463 kb when saved @ 95% it reduced the kb to 262 kb. So a tiny loss in detail if any means you can keep a large picture and a low upload size. plus save as .jpg as .png and bitmap images are far larger

Did you see what he wrote further down lmao. Now I can only guess who it was aimed at lol. Short version" I am not saying it is a coin" (means he knows it's not)" I don't know what it is"(you know it's fake )" And for all you nasty's out there who have messaged me" (I guess that's you guys lols). Then further down his sales pops up an Elizabeth I HalfGroat in Detailed description with mintmark association etc. So begs the question he can recognise Elizabeth I Halfgroat but has no idea what an Elizabeth I Penny looks like Well I assume it is . Wouldn't of been to his own advantage to just say contemporary and not make himself look like a total sleeze bag and have to write ridiculous statements of intent. Another troll with 100% FB rating. I wish some watchdog body would swoop on that place.

That's my best photography how very dare you lols Sorry Ian best I can do. When I locate the bloody coins again i'll try and see if I can get a better set. I was going through my jpg's deleting all the old and sold to free up space. when I came across these. I'll try and hunt the blighters and get some more snaps and some close ups

Good morning good people . Two 1917 pennies but differences on reverse. Left hand coin larger legend especially noticeable the size of the P inner dimensions . Also missing waves along the left hand border. It has a very strange feature on the tide line. If you look on coin 2 where the normal tide line on the shield side it goes in a straight line and reaches the shield rock just over halfway up. Whereas on coin 1 the tide is angled downwards and meets the rock much lower down. Thoughts?

Bought this . I love the patina on this coin. Looks like a Hypo coin which I would guess is a scarce thing on 1950 pennies?

Fake fake fake. as for the 1971 penny guy. I requested he do the human race a favour and terminate his auction before the police come banging on his door for attempting to solicit Funds through deception. What ever that means I aint got a clue heard it in a film sounded good so went with it lmao

Probably fake news again . the Sun online or the Mail online. Neither have anything to do with the real newspapers
