  1. Sorry I cannot fathom what I was doing when I wrote that. I blame the meds. lol
  2. 162689599678 If it is UNC then the RM has a real problem on their hands. They hired Stevie Wonder as the engraver
  3. Don't tell me they are going to be the new kew lols BU £299 5 out of 6 sold amazing.
  4. Looks like MARII to me the first A is barred from your picture but the last A is exactly the same as the I unless you can see remnants of the A . Drawing on the conclusion that the right leg would be the same as the first and it isn't its thinner so I assume it's an I . I sit all day doing this lol. It is so very difficult with pics unless they are so clear and that hardly ever is the case. Sometimes what I think i see isn't the case but what I see when I get it in my hand something that never showed on the original pic. So sometimes I'll throw caution to the wind as there is bound to be an error somewhere Just noticed the small S on obverse and irregular font sizes on reverse. A variety?
  5. 302412636286 thats the item number and will link you to the seller on ebay
  6. Well this seller also has an 1860 penny advertised as having obv 3 rev D F13 . I think its wrong and it's obverse 4 but it's £75 even in Near fair its £70 overvalued lol. So I take his descriptions with a pinch of salt.
  7. Yes I know the cropping isn't completely rounded as it was taken from online so I had to deal with what I could see. Even if I had put a square box around it . It would still look the same and the minute pixel difference which prob equates to less than 2 mm wouldn't Change the shape of Her head. And as you note the 2nd looks wider so her head should be the one that is different and should be wider?. But it's online pics so I know they can lie at times depending on angles the shot is taken at. But I wasn't prepared to pay £300+ to confirm my suspicions lol. I lightened the pics just to show detail. But the seller seems to think they are UNC. I think not GVF at best to me . Thanks for the input though Terry
  8. Not my photo thankfully.. Bought this for peanuts awaiting its arrival. Scarce Variety Obverse 1 1884 Cent.
  9. Hi folks was looking at some pennies online as you do and I also know photographs can be so deceiving So air with a little caution. But some things really stood out to me and I wondered if my explanation could be a valid reason for what I am seeing. Both F10 Pennies but with some noticeable differences. The shape of the head at the top coin on left a gentle meander to the bun. In stark contrast to the very sharp curved style on coin on the right. Also the hair at the nape looks to be increase in depth more full overall. the rose in the middle of the shawl decoration is larger on the left coin as is the leaves to the left and the center rose at the bottom of the bust. Also notice a large section of the lower mantle is missing. Also there seems to be a flaw on the neck on the left coin which doesn't appear on the right hand coin. The bridge of the nose where the curve starts. On coin 2 it starts slightly lower to give the nose a more demure appearance. So after looking over both I came to an assumption that someone wasn't happy with the state of the die make up and reworked it or touched it up to make Victoria look less bulky and fill the mantle and remove the flaw on the neck. What do you think ? Thanks as always
  10. Reverse 4? sideways 8? the fourpence has one so not a long stretch to there being one on a shilling?
  11. Tbh I am not seeing a 2 at all . Where is curve section that would pass through the top ball part and loop of the 6. I understand with the 5 that happens but there is nothing broken on the 5 you can see the down stroke is full and so is the top serif. So begs the question where did the rest come from. As for the 6/2 or 6 over any number of possibilities. If you look on the 2 where the left hand neck strats and the bottom serif you can see under the 6 both those points also the back of the serif on the right edge of the 2 is a visible marker point. Not saying it is there but those three points exist to the eye underneath the 6. It could also be purely coincidental. It makes it very difficult with any digit that has a 6 over it as for all intense of purpose it is like mapping over a 3/4 filled 0 if you get me lol. So anything under it would make it look like a filled 0 unless it had points to see like corners of 7's etc . Anything rounded and it is very difficult. I'll try see if I can get some better close ups as my new 15th magnifying scope turns up. Do not buy the lighthouse one for £167 absolute garbage.
  12. Same as this Now I know there isn't any 1823 shilling with the lion reverse but you would think to look at that this is a 1825/3. Only other thoughts I had was an inverted 9 or a 6. Same for the 1826 . I think there is a distinct possibility there is a 2 underneath but that's pure conjecture More likely an 8? Be interested in what you guys think
  13. 1851 Half Penny Anyone know if this variety has been found before. I think the N's Have been struck over smaller N's but you only see the right upright ? The R is pretty much straight forward to see smaller R higher up above the large R. Thanks in advance
  14. Found this whilst looking for the 1898 different 8 fonts or I probably wouldn't of given it a 2nd glance. 1898 Widow Head penny Raised dot between P and E of PENNY. Perfectly round like a very small colon
  15. I just noticed one of the 1927 pennies has much smaller teeth is that a normal occurance?
  16. Hi guys Just looked in the Rotographic 2015 Collectors Coins GB 1797-1970. Farthings page 14. Both those farthing varietis are listed . Large fat 8 and next in the list is Small 8 over large 8. Which I think is as pointed out a halfpenny size 8. Dossn't surprize me as I have seen the lettering do the same thing. As in left side of the coin lettering in larger font than the right hand side. Particularly with the size of the A's. As for the 1825 date. It's nothing unusual. I would imagine in that era. The standard of education and dyslexia ran rife. It would surely go some way to explain some of the many unfathomable strikes re-punches etc. I am just glad we have them Rich
  17. Thanks . Very interesting area for me. I am like a moth to a flame to anything that is remotely suspicious. Lots of duds but now and then persistance does bare a reward. I just thumbed thrugh the die pairings in Michaels book. I took it that this was obverse 6 as the proximity of the B to Victoria's head but the lower leaf at the front does not point above the top colon . The outer ribbon has a kink in the top part and its basically a straight drop from there. The pic in the book shows a definite inward curve on the top half with an even more exagerated outward curve at the bottom. The hair could be just from wear but I don't see anything there at all other than the tuft closest to the ribbon. Most can prob be down to wear I guess but the ribbon is of major concern. But thanks guys for your answers. I greatly appreciate the feedback. Seems google or any search engine these days has set places to send you and thats your lot.. lol.
  18. Hi folks. I saw on another topic the Half-Penny 1/1 varieties. But I don't see anything listed here or anywhere else on 1861 penny varieties other than the listed varieties. For a change this was an easy spot. I wonder if you could tell me if this a new or existing variety and possible value. I think if I have done my research correctly (slim chance lol) its Obv 6 Rev D . Any help will be most appreciated
