  1. Some of those coppers, bronzes, wreath crowns, and golds would surely fool a novice. And having had a quick look at the feedback I see people are snapping them up.
  2. Selling honestly described is all well and good, but how soon before unscrupulous buyers re-list these? This is the first time I've seen 1799/1825/1826 replica coppers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/bitsandbobs.etc/m.html?item=282626613088&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  3. Spoilt for choice, just can't decide which to buy……. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/jd012349-1/m.html?item=272826369065&hash=item3f85b80429%3Ag%3AdAQAAOSwr6xZporU&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  4. Mm, yes, that wording is a bit cheeky, isn't it. Still, if someone actually thought they were going to get all those pre 1947 tanners for £20 then more fool them.
  5. If genuine the 1921 Australian florin is quite valuable. The George III is a contemporary counterfeit. The George IV has a silver bullion value only.
  6. And I have two. One fine or a little better, one about very fine.
  7. It is comforting to know I'm not the only one who finds this table unclear. To me it reads 338,160 farthings struck dated 1679, and I had always understood it was the least common of the '72-'79 series.
  8. So there are two of us at least then Peter…..
  9. Yes, thinner. Same size/weight flans as the rest but squashed out to a slightly broader diameter.
  10. Hi Dave, I remember having a conversation with Rob about this on here a little while ago. I have a 1718 which, at 28mm, is also larger than my other dump halfpennies. Apparently, as these were struck without the use of a collar a diameter range of 25-28mm is perfectly normal. I've just now measured my 1717 copper proof too, that has a diameter of 26mm.
  11. ….And from the same seller: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Pence-2P-1971-/142464203397?hash=item212b873a85:g:iT8AAOSwvp5ZgiBk Description: 'very rare new pence two pence coin, get an investment now'
  12. But this IS 40 years ago….. An iconic photo of The Ramones playing Eric's Club in Liverpool, May 1977. Yours truly arrowed.
  13. Surely mass reporting is called for then, otherwise a couple of eager novices may bid each other up to silly money.
  14. This one Pete? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Victoria-1871-Penny-/332343386429?hash=item4d6135a13d:g:VLUAAOSwS51ZkYFn
  15. Ha ha, yes indeed. That was quick, wasn't it. Item descriptions have been revised and now include the words 'genuine facsimiles'. 'Genuine facsimiles'?!?! Could be the beginning of a whole new field of collecting and research.
  16. I've reported a number of items all from the same seller as he's attempting to pass them off as genuine coins. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/kwjhyde3/m.html?item=322644375929&hash=item4b1f1a7979%3Ag%3AYgcAAOSw24JZi1eJ&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562#
  17. Its been taken down.
  18. Me too. Item reported to Ebay and seller messaged.
  19. His previous sale: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122598565708 25 bids!
  20. Reported. His item description: "Not much more info except these are garden finds. House is old but not pre 1550 I think. Listed these a few weeks back with many comments that they are fake but I also had positive feedback from some that were genuinely interested. The truth is I don't know. Just have had them for 10 years or so just lying there & will take a chance on selling them at whatever price. Not looking for a windfall! Let's see?" His garden continues to offer up its treasures…...
  21. Does anyone here know why so many people have it in their minds 1971 decimals are valuable? I find this baffling.
  22. I visited last night for the first time in ages. Early Milled has become a shop front for sellers of replica coins as too, along with people hoping to make a small profit on bullion sovereigns, has Victorian. This on top of all the usual washers and damaged tat, very depressing. Look at these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/bitsandbobs.etc/m.html?item=282596793063&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  23. Why 'sadly'?
  24. Agreed. William & Mary tin halfpence are always available and I have five or six which I've bought along the way simply because I like them. I don't have any James halfpence though, just three of his tin farthings. My 'Wow' comment was with regard to it being a 91/92, which is very rare indeed, and how lucky DP was to find one while mettle detecting (Sorry Rob, couldn't resist ).
  25. I too gave up looking sometime ago. So much tat. My only visits these days are via the links provided here.
