hi mark. The mistake (if it is one) has been made by three different graders . I was led to believe they are looked at by a grader and the details put on a system. This is then repeated twice by two other graders and if one grader rejects a coin that the coin is given a yellow ticket. If they are slightly different the lowest grade is attributed. This means all three graders put the coin at 80. Makes me have doubts in this instance. Pete.
In my opinion the obverse 78/80 and the reverse 60. overall does not make any better than 65 e/f. Not knowing anything about half crowns i may be way off.
That seems ok with regards the price.Maybe i was being a bit low although having just looked at some auction results £40 + seems about right and suppose collectors of good numbers will always pay more regardless of condition. Pete.
Think the other thing to note. Its not the best picture and cgs to grade a copper penny at 85 the price goes as to what someone will pay. They are scarce in this grade as your aware. Pete.
Sorry to go off track but i have another penny and the c.g.s picture is not the best. That also has a fingerprint on but doubt you will ever see a better one. Its not scarce but really nice coin. c.g.s.31744 Pete
goomlique . Personally i would only buy from reputable dealers or alternative coins you can see in hand, such as coin fairs etc. Lots of coins on Ebay and in my opinion lots of garbage. Make your bid and win some and lose some. Pete
