  5. Peter i can relate to that. I spent almost every day with my grandma for months untill she passed away a few months ago at 102. She was always interested in coins i had bought and used to enjoy showing them her . Although as she said ...pitty you didnt no (such a person)he worked at the bank and always used to keep the best
  6. Good advice Peter your right.......and i dont
  7. Wow that was grading money well spent Hope the person you bought them off got told. Sorry to bring an old thread up as not seen this one before. In this case hat off CGS
  8. That so called reputable dealer ....IMO...should be .......i need to chill. Lovely guy who i have just had a chat with....must of been smiling . Its not fair to say if you have a few quid in the bank i will sell you ones that will go up............? The ones he offered me and coin news allowed him to put it in a full page add. The three that were talked about..........i am out of here for this one
  9. Chill with the scum ...dont tar us all with the same brush
  10. Latest one in Manchester is very good for the scum. Quick call ....we will come and have a look. Will you or someone else be in on such a day at such a time..........Robbed Old people amongst others are honest and dont think they will not get caught , no matter how clever you are these scum will get you if they want to. Easy to find an address set up a false meeting and watch you drive from your house to it They will be in as soon as they watch you drive off.
  11. The thing is Rob if you already no you would not be ripped off. Thats why not just this instance but many others allow people to think twice . Pete.
  12. Hat off to the progamme for making people aware of the RANG.
  13. I am starting to think i sstttuuuutterrr
  14. I didnt find it Rob was on this morning
  15. Wasnt me the 1869 but believe it was a nice coin as a mate looked at it but he was interested in it so left alone. Reasonable price compared with IMO some of the others.
  16. The one i bought last week is in a slab now . This is the C.G.S. picture.
  17. I would phone them...they didnt have one advertised when i bought my copy. Its the .......The M. J .Freeman collection of victorian bronze coins. Christies Tuesday 23 october 1984.
  18. Try Galata Matt thats were i got mine from.
  19. This has just been on so probably on catch up. A shame that people buy into the modern proofs etc. Notice in this months coin news a dealer states.......if you have some money in the bank give me a ring.
  20. The catalogue is hard copy only Matt. A lot of the coins were obviously the plate coins used in the books. The auction catalogue is quite scarce and from memory think i paid about £25 for mine. Christies sale October 1984.
  21. Checked the pictures in the Freeman sale also and definately the same coin.....Thank you
  22. Thanks Bernie
  23. Loads of good research material on old threads here. Otherwise if pennies get the updated Freeman and take it from there
  24. To add to this thread. I have studied a lot of Pennies that the provenance is wrong. Check the auction sites/catalogues as a lot are sold with provenance that does not resemble the coin. Pete.
