  1. Love this weather - the golf ball goes for miles on rock hard fairways. Stenson's got nothing on me !
  2. Thanks Terry - your surname should be Eagle-eye rather than Eagleton
  3. I've now added 1909 F169 to my rarest penny website and would be pleased if collectors could let me know of further examples.
  4. Spink 2016 (51st edition) Page 491 has the following values: 1897 VF-£3; EF-£30; UNC-£95 1897 dot VF-£100; EF-£500; UNC-£1600 Hope this is what you wanted, Paul.
  5. I, too, have an F13 with these repairs,
  6. I agree Jerry but with the probable thousands of F10s around the world, we aren't going to get this analysis in a hurry. The fact that the new 2*+D is only (so far) found paired with reverse D* (curved rockline) suggests that it was not minted in huge numbers but then the fact that 3 of the known examples are around Unc suggests that there may be many of them, unless they were early strikings at a time when people were putting away shiny examples of the new-fangled bronze coinage ?
  7. You may be right Terry - I'll go through the records and have a look at how many 2+E (F169) specimens have been sold.
  8. My Gouby X isn't on there I'm sure I sent some pics, but if I haven't then my fault haha I'm going to remove the 1911 Gouby X sometime as it's not as rare as the other coins up there. Like this Quote
  9. My system of recording rare penny transactions is not foolproof by any means - I hadn't logged the A Scott 3 plumes coin but I've now been back to Spink's website and retrieved the pictures and will add them to my website. Please do keep pointing out omissions as that's the only way that I'll build up a pictures of the populations of these rarities. R
  10. I update the rare penny site every time I come across a new specimen. This one will go up when I receive it and photograph it. R
  11. Hi Terry Lockdales didn't know what it was and their estimate was £20-30 but someone else knew as they bid me up to £130. Time will tell whether it was a bargain. R
  12. This is only the 5th one that I've come across since Terry announced it so they must be reasonably rare, as you say.
  13. Bought this at Lockdale's recently - it's the Obverse D variant with A pointing to a tooth - I've been looking for one since Terry discovered it. This is Lockdale's photo as I haven't received it yet.
  14. In my opinion Spink have never been the same since he left them and there must be a danger that Baldwins may go the same way.
  15. Please don't start "Coin Collectors Anonymous" - my collection database contains numerous source entries of "CCA" (Croydon Coin Auctions) and I can't face amending them all !!!
  16. I've just consulted my database of rare penny sales and I have details of 3 x die 2, 3 x die 3, 6 x die 4 and 1 x die 5 being sold over the last 12 years. I really must get out more.....
  17. Yep, got a Magna Carta £2 down here in south Oxfordshire today. Still no sign of that battleship or Brittania yet.
  18. I've just looked in Gouby's book and his picture of reverse m is not very good - it doesn't clearly show the tiny rock near the linear circle or the one to the right of the lighthouse (the pic on my website is much better - yah, boo). Definitely a reverse m (Freeman K). Hopefully Chris has also used my photo in the new Freeman book (or will include it in the next version). R
  19. Picture please Rob so that we know what we're discussing. R
  20. Vicky - thanks for not going higher - when I bid the £7250 I immediately regretted it but was sure that someone would overbid me and that I'd bid no higher - but now that I've got it, I'm pleased that I did bid. Often happens that way, and often happens that I wished I'd bid higher on something ! I also used to open slabs with a hammer but when I ruined a gem BU 1867 penny I resorted to the hacksaw method - much more effective. In fact, I now leave them in the slabs - proof of their grade !
  21. Well, I'm convinced there are different 3's.
  22. Just checked my spares - only got one 1931 but it's the same "open" 3 so it may well be fairly common.
