  1. This was Michael's first book (published in 1986) and is useful as it covers Edward VII to Elizabeth II. The Victoria edition came later (2009 as Pete says).
  2. Very difficult to comment based on that photo.
  3. Yes, Michael Gouby lists many date variations in his book and I don't think it would be fair or acceptable to reproduce them all on my website.
  4. Why don't graders include the Peck or Freeman numbers ? I suspect this has been asked before.
  5. I see it sold for $780 - I don't know whether that includes commission but still a lot for a circulation coin. And here's another: https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/lots/view/3-17DVEY/great-britain-bronzed-copper-penny-1797-birmingham-soho-mint-george-iii-pcgs-proof-62-brown which sold for $600. It appears to me that the 3rd party graders are being lax in their work !
  6. Oooops - my typo !
  7. The link below is to a penny in the imminent Stacks-Bowers auction. It has been slabbed as Proof (with no Peck number) but I have pored through the various obverse and reverse designs of the recorded proof pennies and I believe it to be just a nicely struck currency 10 leaves variety. https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/lots/view/3-1CB8EP/great-britain-penny-1797-birmingham-soho-mint-george-iii-pcgs-proof-62-brown However, bidding has already reached $5000.
  8. Thanks - now added to the website.
  9. Richard Could you please post a photo of your 1862 F41 obverse so that I can add it to my rare penny site.
  10. He has now taken it down after I'd messaged him.
  11. Some naive buyer may well buy this. It's very frustrating.
  12. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196599130251?itmmeta=01J6QRM9GEJXST213EAJN4DENJ&hash=item2dc638a88b:g:I-AAAOSwDuhm1JrG&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKlxC92JWfA0aLxfCgwdx5BHgo8YGT06macKdD4XHzKwr1spDo9bE33jwUD1Sz3nT71jXeu3W8l6gaM6kk7z1ukZ7NU%2FwzMZ8ye88CHwI6eLua0YqJ9RatMvk9xbBiwWawBbD7A15Vz%2FeTfDaodIhEv9NiiP8l1O%2BzxisP%2FdGM3iK2ehJXIrjVl1qTq2Qxj4gJ3%2Flu1yLgika%2BW8WyA%2BsTy4wgSYV9%2F563wgQRrQPrNMtPzDXXs09Xl8dP0L2aBMzNRdMRR%2BzIsaT0RcDDVsR1Af|tkp%3ABk9SR6aY0fi1ZA My article in September's Coin News provides a very timely warning about these coins !
  13. These dots appear randomly across the years - see my website: https://rarestpennies.wordpress.com/scarce-dot-pennies/#top
  14. Nice info - I hadn't noted that. Normal tide on left; high tide on right
  15. Thanks - so, it does exist, but clearly they have erroneously given two different coins the same identifying code (K69).
  16. 2022.
  17. In the 2024 Coins of England decimal edition, on page 97 variety K69 is a Queen Elizabeth £2 coin but on page 405, K69 is a Charles III £2 coin. The QEII coin is supposedly a "Britannia" variety bearing a "privy mark" denoting the year of her death but I can't find any photos/trace of this coin. Can anyone help ?
