  1. Seems logical - they get rid of all the shrapnel with out having to lug them to the bank themselves.
  2. Gary Schindler wanted these pages added to this post:
  3. Michael Gouby sent me a photo of another 1861 F27 ! I've added it to the rare penny site. They're still out there !!!!
  4. A few of us contributed appendices covering varieties identified after the 1985 version, including those recorded by Gouby.
  5. I immediately emailed the auction house about this but never received an acknowledgement.
  6. That 4 looks on the slant to me - or am I seeing things ?
  7. Exactly. You just can't rely on photographs to reflect reality.
  8. Here are 2 1806 pennies, both sold as F1328 Bronzed - compare the colours !
  9. I agree that it looks like copper. Bronzed specimens tend to look a browny-pink (see below) .
  10. Yes, on P1325, 1326, 1327 and an unrecorded mule (which I own an example of). See my website - https://headsntails14.wordpress.com/george-iii-1805-06-patterns-proof-restrikes/
  11. Happy New Year to all collectors and may you find that elusive coin you've been after for years !
  12. As Peckris says, acknowledge the source out of politeness. I'm sure that most sites realise that their images can and will be downloaded. And for those that can't, I screenshot the webpage, paste it into a Word document and then save the image as a jpeg file where it can be cropped with something like Adobe Photoshop.
  13. Yes, I added it to my rarest pennies site.
  14. Just noted as "extremely rare" with no valuations.
  15. Spink's Coins of England 2024 has finally included my proposed penny additions of 1847 Medusa, 1858 Large Rose (although they have mysteriously duplicated the entry), 1862 over 1, 1862 VIGTORIA and 1863 open 3.
  16. I have to disagree with this. It is possible to negotiate (sometimes to zero) the seller's premium with some auction houses, in which case the seller gets the hammer price and the auction house covers its costs through the buyer's premium (commission).
  17. I got confused - I believe that he is Guy Fornquerne (or Guy Fie) from the Coinery Auction.
  18. I don't think so.
  19. I didn't realise that these animals live in Telford - that's gnus to me.
  20. Because F763 is scarce rather than rare, I've just included one example of both A+b and A1+b rather than every example I've seen.
