  1. You sold me this penny as probably the first suggestion of the existence of the F27. You'll see that the top of the gap between helmet plume and head is very narrow and appears to me to be smaller than your examples. But it's a brave man that makes a firm decision.
  2. Anyone spot the 1862 5+G (H+g) penny on Ebay recently ? An exciting new find perhaps ? Gary S has confirmed that it was erroneous listing with the seller getting his photos confused. I had suspected as much because the obverse and reverse photos were different technologies (one was JPEG and the other PNG images). Disappointing though.🙁
  3. My sturdy 5 has the same flaw. The slim 5 doesn't.
  4. These are my 2 F79s - the 2 5s do appear to be slightly different ?
  5. I got mine from DNW last year for £618.
  6. John Spring first brought this to my attention a few years ago and I have a couple in my collection, through luck rather than intention. I don't think it's particularly rare.
  7. Investment - so, who decides the value of the investment over time ? It can only be an opinion until the item is actually sold which might then make a loss.
  8. Grab yourself a bit of the Edward VIII penny. https://showpiece.com/edward8-penny
  9. It's still in there as Lot 428. I can't believe they didn't remove it as soon as they received emails about it. Their credibility is plummeting. https://www.dnw.co.uk/auctions/catalogue/lot.php?auction_id=626&lot_uid=418653&search=1
  10. It does look a little different, but it would be nice to have an EF specimen to be sure.
  11. I had already also emailed DNW but have had no response.
  12. Yes, that's very concerning when one of the top auction houses doesn't spot a blatant modern repro.
  13. The reverse has 179 teeth - the true reverse should have 156 ! And the chainmail is more like the plain trident version. And the obverse has 180 teeth vs 175 on a real one.
  14. Bought this from a collector in Russia - very interesting experience. Emails go through electronic interpretation smoothly and officially they are not allowed to export any coins (and maybe other objects) older than 50 years (or something like that) but it all worked pretty smoothly. He contacted me via my rare penny website.
  15. Yes please. Also, do you have a larger picture of this one? Could you tell me the Freeman number of them? And, finally, how would you like me to credit you on the website? I can't post a larger picture but could email you a high quality image. It's an 1848 Peck 1496 with unrecorded R over B in REG. I'll supply my name with the photograph.
  16. Please post a photographic example so that we can fully understand.
  17. Is it for sale, Pete ?
  18. I listened - there were no bids so it was passed.
