  1. I agree (although the Victorian copper proof penny prices seem to be going through the roof), but I used the comparison just to say that I didn't think the Medusa price was unreasonable.
  2. Its rarity is comparable with the 1877 F90 which would fetch much more in that condition.
  3. My bid of $200 was winning for a couple of weeks !
  4. Not even room bidding now - postal bids only, maybe telephone ?
  5. Sadly, "Noonan Syndrome" will soon be taking on a whole new meaning.
  6. Are other people having trouble accessing this auction ? Every change of page or lot takes between 30 and 40 seconds to come up on my PC. I've just found that it's much much better on Firefox - I was using Chrome previously but the DNW site worked perfectly on Chrome.
  7. The coin wasn't sold as a proof and Peck never suggests that the bronzed pieces are proofs. Their purpose and creation remain a mystery.
  8. No - different coin. That was an ornamental trident (P1513) penny (lot 666) but this is a plain trident P1514 coin.
  9. Yes, advertised as bronzed.
  10. I bought a bronzed 1857 from Sovreign Rarities a while ago.
  11. Ian Anderson at DNW has replied and asked me exactly what issues there were. I've listed about half a dozen and promised to give a more exhaustive list on Friday.
  12. I tried to use the Contact Us facility on the new website in order to let them know of our views and discussions but, surprise surprise, that feature also doesn't work ! So they will be blissfully unaware of my views. I have now sent that message to some of the previous dnw.co.uk addresses so maybe something will get through.
  13. I often get the same sort of results but, of course, when you include them in a Word document or on a (Wordpress) web page, you can drag them to be the same size.
  14. Any reason why you don't crop your photos Mike ?
  15. I worked in the development of I.T. systems all my life and to see something this poorly tested really annoys me. It may not have the importance of the Royal Mail Horizon system or an Air Traffic Control system but if they're blaming the lack of rigorous testing on tight deadlines (set by themselves) they should be ashamed. And it doesn't say much for the level of respect they show to their customers. End of rant.
  16. The more you look through this website for particular collections/coins etc, the worse it gets. It really is appalling. I hope someone from DNW is reading this thread.
  17. Just tried the archive function - clicking on a previous catalogue brings up............nothing. Don't they test these things before going live ?????
  18. The DNW site was one of the best coin websites - very quick and easy to use. Excellent archive options. The new site is (currently) several steps backwards.
  19. Their new website is a disaster. It runs like a dog, has no option to increase the number of items per page and has no option to select a sub-set of lots (e.g. pennies) from an auction preview listing. They're not doing themselves any favours.
  20. They must have spent a fortune on this new look - it's surprising what an increase in buyer's commission can do.
  21. Ian, can you send me photo of reverse please.
