Help for the digitally challenged please
Paddy replied to Rob's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
It sounds as if 1&1 created the folder for you - I don't use them, so I am not sure how this works. If you have a log in to an account with them, maybe there is something in there that will allow you to re-create it? -

I am not sure if this helps: The only folder that Outlook automatically includes for unwanted emails is the "junk" folder, and all Microsoft's automatic rules send spam emails to that. If you had a "Spam" folder, it sounds as if this was something you or someone else created and had home-written rules to send emails from particular sources to that. Was there any particular type of email that ended up there? If this is all correct then you can either allow the "junk" folder to continue to handle things, or you can create a new "spam" folder and create rules to send things to it. -

Ah yes - I see that now - that explains it! Thanks. -

Just out of curiosity, how does anyone see who is watching an item on Ebay? I have been selling there for years and never found a way of doing it - I can see how many are watching, but not who. Any regular Ebay sellers know how? -
You will probably get a little less for the brass than the bronze. Try calling your local scrap man to discuss before you commit to a trip out - whenever that is deemed legitimate! Still looks closer to £60 - and a lot less hassle than trying to sell on Ebay.

I had 44Kg of the same sort of stuff before Christmas. After trying lots of different avenues, including here, I ended up taking it to the scrap man in town - I got £3.30 per kilo for it. I can sell a few at the markets when they are open - but only at 10p per coin to non-collectors or newly started ones. However, I still get more in as make weights in job-lots at auction than I can ever sell. I have already built up another 15Kg in spares! That is why dealers are so loth to take any more on.

Another band newly discovered in amongst a huge collection of CDs I bought late last year - May Blitz. Medium rock with some driving rhythms. This is my favourite track so far:

I have said all along - I suspect this Coronavirus business is only a dress rehearsal for the real sorting out. I just hope I am not around for that one! It's being so cheerful as keeps me going! 😁

For those of us tonsorially challenged, a hairdresser comes low on the list of priorities. To be honest, I most miss the markets - whether buying or selling, the joy of exploring a diverse selection of small stores, trading, dealing and chatting about coins or antiques with anyone like-minded.
-
Yes I have used this many times before - I tend to use a cryptic crossword to put me to sleep at night. Often I fall asleep with some clue and awake with the answer. As Confucius says: "Man who goes to sleep with problem in mind wakes with solution in hand". (Or was that about something else?!)
-
I woke in the middle of the night with a better answer: "inconvenience" which is 13. Strange how the brain works!

I found this one, part of a "Best of Sea Life" album, and the title seemed appropriate. Music is good too - light rock:

Have you seen his line in GVI shillings starting at $40 upwards? I wish I could get anything like that for them! His feedback indicates that most of his higher value coins go with "Best offer accepted" - one can only hope the offers were a hell of a lot lower than his headline price!

Coin dealers in Dorset/Hampshire
Paddy replied to Weaver's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Thanks for the promotion! Usually I would be keen to get involved as I normally visit Dorset regularly to see my father, but in the present situation I cannot. I am also a little reticent to get in much bulk low grade stuff until we see how the market goes once restrictions are lifted. I suspect I will be inundated with people shifting their low grade collections in order to release much needed funds, and there will also be fewer people adding to their collections for a while. (High grade stuff always finds a home, but low grade needs the enthusiastic amateur with money to spend...) I suspect @Weaver would do better selling at a local auction where there is a good chance of getting direct to a new collector - Elliotts in Wimborne or Cottees in Poole would be my choices. I won't say anything directly about selling to the Ingrams, because I have had no direct dealings with them, as long as @Weaver has taken time to read the previous discussions on the subject of that particular dealership. -

These jokes remind me of that ancient torture: "Rolling a gong on the chest of a slave". -
I saw this on the BBC today and wanted to share it somewhere, so why not here as so many people are into photography as well as coins! New book out celebrating Jacques Henri Lartigue - a photographer in the early 20thC from an early age. Some lovely shots... https://www.bbc.com/news/in-pictures-52373308

The other two I would say were two halves of a shirt stud, but possibly didn't start together. The silver coloured screw thread I have definitely had before on shirt studs. The diamond shaped thing is too small for a cufflink. I would expect the two halves to match in colour, which is why I think a marriage.

In the British Army two Corps have the motto "Ubique" The Royal Artillery and the Royal Engineers. For the Engineers it means "Everywhere" in recognition of the fact that they have been involved in every conflict since time immemorial. For the Artillery, however, it means "All over the place"... -
Thanks for that - I don't do facebook so useful information.
-
Yes - that is what I am still getting. IP address not found means it has disappeared completely, at least for now. Hopefully it will return - it is no competition with this forum for GB predecimal coinage, but quite useful for other world coins. Ditto Cointalk, which is the other forum I haunt regularly.
-
Not known it to go on for so long before. Usually OK the next day.

Anyone else here use this forum as well? Have you found it unavailable now? It seemed to go down yesterday afternoon/evening with messages of "Taking too long to respond". This morning it is "IP address could not be found". I use www.coincommunity.com
