  1. Well either he is watching this forum (welcome by the way!) or someone has messaged him as the "Toned Proof" claim has gone. Now described simply as AEF - still an overgrade but a bit closer.
  2. I am sure you don't really want to switch browsers but I use Chrome with Adaware, which is free and works fine. If you are using something other than Adaware you might try that with Firefox.
  3. It has been mentioned before that some woods have a greater effect on toning than others - what wood is your bookshelf made of? I don't know all the options but I seem to recall Mahogany is good, oak not so good, and pine very bad...
  4. Just tried it and it fails that test! Maybe we are back to a Obverse 1. I was only going on the pictures in the Onedrive link...
  5. I picked up two lots from the DNW sale on Wednesday - they arrived today. Here are the tickets that came with them - hopefully someone can tell me what these signify?
  6. I went more on the ones in the onedrive link further up - the more rounded forehead seems to be the most obvious difference. In the Onedrive link the rims do not (to me) look any different.
  7. Thanks to the onedrive link I THINK I can say that this is 2+B - please correct me if I am wrong. This is the one in my collection - full size images in my onedrive if anyone needs them.
  8. There is an option to report as "Witness" which I think would apply in this case. I don't know enough about the topic to report I fear...
  9. As Ebay are refusing to take action, is it time to report to Action Fraud? Has anyone set up a login with them? https://reporting.actionfraud.police.uk/login I haven't followed the whole story, so maybe someone who has would like to pick this up?
  10. Yes - and also why the Northern Ireland 2002 £2 coin is deemed so much scarcer than the others?
  11. Others have probably found this already, but in case you haven't, their website does now have comprehensive circulation figures for decimal coins up to 2017 - all denominations. Their own search engine doesn't seem to find it well so here is the link: https://www.royalmint.com/currency/uk-currency/mintages/
  12. Actually, mycopau was quite clever to leave a positive feedback that made it clear the coin was a copy. As a regular seller, she can contact Ebay over negative or neutral feedbacks and get them removed if she can make a case for why they should be. But positive feedback - why should Ebay even discuss getting that taken down! Well done mycopau! 😄
  13. Still waiting.... 😁
  14. There used to be another similar - not sure if it is still going - at Wookey Hole near Wells in Somerset. I've got another 20Kg...
  15. Speaking of which, anyone know what happened with Dr Larry? Not seen or heard of him on here for many months now...
  16. No - no response at all. Disappointed in DNW - they are usually better than that.
  17. ..and finally for now, Wurtemburg:
  18. I think this thread needs som pictures - here are some of mine. First - probably my favourite - Frankfurt:
  19. I can't say I seriously collect them, but when I nice one falls into my possession I tend to keep them in my "tangents" album. Particularly the crown size ones - I see I have 12 so far - Prussia, Bavaria, Wurtemburg, Frankfurt and early Empire so far. Some of them are very handsome - better designs than most of the modern RM stuff.
  20. This from the BBC about the contemporary forgery of an early Saxon Gold coin: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-suffolk-47679789
  21. Even I can see that the R and I of BRITT are touching, which makes it Obverse 12 and therefore can't be an 1882 no H. PS - I have emailed DNW with that same view.
  22. I'm not sure this is relevant - when I view Ebay pictures, even when the bottoms are hidden by the thumbnails, I still get the white enlarge box when I hover over the pic. When I move this down I still see the all the parts of the picture, even the part covered, so I can't see the problem. The only time you don't get the enlarge box is when the pixel count of the uploaded picture is too low to support enlargement - and that is a problem for the seller to resolve rather than Ebay.
  23. Yes - same applies to the Hungarian Denars of the same era - I found 7 in a job lot of foreign coins bought cheaply recently. No reason to doubt their authenticity and sadly worth only a few quid each.
  24. Thanks Rob! Yes, I probably could do with more literature but Hammered are a bit of a sideline for me, so I resist spending lots of money on books on it when I would rather spend it on coins. Besides, with experts available online... 😉
