  1. Looks like GVF that sov , you can of course get lustred GVF sovs due to the coin being 85% or therabouts pure gold Gold due not tarnish like other metals so retains lustre longer. A poor strike can also look like wear so really coins like this have to be seen in hand
  2. ok 100th aniversary and 200th are acceptable but i must agree 150 year since birth is a poor excuse for a coin issue There is nothing wrong with the potter designs though , in fact peter rabbits is very good
  3. I dont really mind the google animations as you dont pay for them and they are not permenent . The uk stuff (commems) is at least quality designs and not frivilous .
  4. I used to have a few of these they are very common , not seen it with that "JETTON" reverse though. The above poster is right , its german , and a card counter not sure about the nuremberg though , it does not in my opinion have anything to do with lauer
  5. Watched a TV programe the other day and BOTH sides of the fence piled on the lies and untruths thick and fast during their campaigns . To be honest the best result would have been if no one turned up and voted . I guess it was just a choice between which side was telling the biggest porkies and the other and the public chose what they thought was the least bad choice
  6. I must admit I find this horrible. This country looks issueing collectors coins for every 50th 100th or 250 year anniversary event for every year from now on - It looks set to become the isle of man of europe
  7. I dont find this artical much use " Full of nine miillion pounds worth of gold * is that as collectors items valued at this amount , bullion value or worth nine million to a museum , or some other amount they have picked out of the air?
  8. thats just normal dated coins then
  9. not rare no yes agreed , pile of unsellable rubish
  10. What an achievement those seventeenth century tokens can be really hard to track down esp halfpennies Quite a few tokens exist that are unique and many many have less that 30 examples existing .
  11. it was a joke about all those nigerian fraudsters
  12. George V threepences from 1911- 1920 are quite common in good grade they are also very cheap - you can often find them for around £5 each
  13. wELL DONE PETER !

  15. Could have been someome the police did not want to be prosecuteed or even a policeman , if I remmeber rightly there was a big fuss about a policeman who locked two german sheepherds in the back of his van and killed them that year .
  16. MAD DOGS AND ENGLISHMEN GO OUT IN THE MIDDAY SUN Dogs have no sweat glands so they cannot stand a quick temperature rise they tend to die and its probably pretty horible for the animal it must feel like being roasted. I am really surprised the police never got back to you in the case of the dog in the car it was in extreem danger, but full marks on doing the right thing , it was the stupidity of the dog owner that broke that window not you .
  17. Ok yes I admit I did overgade the obverse a bit . Here is the reverse - as usual its in better grade than the obverse . I am pretty happy to grade GVF/NEF
  18. I have seen a few dogs recently refuse to move and just flop down on the floor and give up , their owners have to pull them by the lead to get them up , its funny to watch but dogs dont take well to heat at all , you tend to start feeling really sorry for them
  19. A corffe castle ferret then
  20. By the ways is a fursty ferret a yorkshire or lancashire ferret? In the brewing sense I mean
  21. I still think someone built up a large stock of these two coins then publicised them to death and made a killing . Someone out there knows the truth . It will come out someday
  22. How about this little beauty I picked up at the weekend . (funny enough not at york Always a scarcer date and tough in this grade Abt EF nicely toned The price ? A real bargain at £5
