  1. I strongly suspect that the type of light has an effect as well - you often see tapesties that have been damaged by sunlight but under artifical light they are fine
  2. Errrr no, looks like die damage
  3. will put this on my list of too do's Would it rate better than a day at alton towers ? At least tere are no queues in the mint
  4. She should go back to her usual roll of african prince who has a fortune in a european bank and is prepared to give 25% to someone who will help him get it back . Get that spam rollin' again mr whoever from nigeria
  5. better than fine but the scratches let it down
  6. Find something slightly wrong with a coin and put it on ebay for £200 One man and his dog have been doing this for years havn't they ?- Every so often some poor (or soon to be poor) sucker falls for it .
  7. Yes I am not totally pleased with the reverse yet so I will carry on working on it - unfortunately it looks slightly "Edgy" as well with a couple of edge knocks and other light problems , like a weak strike as well Overall though I am very please with the verdi-care
  8. I suspect the dealer was called ribbinandfibbin
  9. Please could you also explain why you collected so many of these coins over the years and now want to sell them at a discount to their normal value - I suspect you may never get a job as a prominant economist or get rich with this sort of attitude to coin collecting .
  10. I found six in my change before it was anounced in the press that they were rare .(I searched about £10,000 worth) I did find a further two soon after the anouncement but none in the last few years - i have given up looking now - its a waste of time - all change is picked clean of them .
  11. shows how rare they are doesn't it !!! you never hear of people selling 700 mule farthings or 700 die number pennies
  12. Rolf harris and len fairclough did lol
  13. who was the coin dealer ? He doesn't know much
  14. totally normal - many coins of this era have similar faults
  15. they could have borrowed an obverse die from the royal mint birmingham to london was not a long way
  16. could have been because they wanted a good strike on the reverse - it was well known that the problems with striking pennies started in edwards reign because of the large amounts of metal the design of the obverse used. Do realise as these were trial pieces they could have been produced well after 1902 , in otherwords the date don't mean anything
  17. Obverse looks badly struck on purpose , or the die is deliberately weak - I havent a clue why. Neither coin has suffered wear
  18. the coin does not show any signs of circulation - if it had been in fine grade and produced 150 odd years ago it would have edge knocks, scratches wear and other things fron circulation - this alone should have bells ringing that somethings wrong when it does not
  19. where are the proper lines on the shield? Obvious fake. lighthouse and ship are all wrong too as is victorias hair - should not fool anyone really
