    1860 TB farthings often show a week strike, they still suffered with similar probs till about 1872 when they started to produce a better end product , although there was a steady improvement from 1860 onwards. The major problem was the beaded border and the relative hardness of the bronze coupled with the size of the farthing , steady progress was made for 12 years or so . Pennies and halfpence seemed to suffer less .

  10. Is it obvious what metal this coin is it does not look like silver , could it be pewter and toned over the years before it was found? Looks a bit like cast pewter which puts it in very dodgy ground

  14. Notice this myself he often gets double or treble what a coins worth I wonder if some shilling is going on
  15. Like the 1739 , 1746 and 1749 as well first two are fairly common the 1749 is a bit scarcer - nice chocolate tones as well on those three.

  17. Try finding a 1862 fat eight farthing for your collection paddy - thats a hard one to find
  18. I would really like to own that 1721. farthing its a lot better than the one in my collection
  19. The 1721 farthing with a dot is not as rare as the 1721/0 but I would hazard a guess at 10 out of 100 random coins of this date would be about right the 1721/0 is probably about 4 in a 100
  20. I was not just that, with the industial devestation in the north a but of luck was needed as well - I was very lucky I sailed though the major and thatcher years and only claimed a weeks unemployment benefit admitedly I was never on good wages but I was gainfully employed as they say
