  1. i find it strange you say the coin is increaseing in value rapidly
  2. I would get rid of the coin at anything over £600 . Invest it in something something interesting victorian or before
  3. probably it would be best for a potential buyer of the above 3d to make his own mind up if it is proof or currency- in the end the buyer decides. Ebay the coin with virtually no complex details and it will find its own value. Personally these coins (3d's) do little for me , I prefer the silver ones but I known others love them
  4. I would guess that about 50% of 1953 plastic sets probably got broken up probably mostly before 1960 Most of the coins were then spent after the excitement of the coronation had passed. It's only a guess but judging on all the circulated 1953 penny's u get probably a reasonable guess
  5. It's also true that most of the proofs are still in the original sets and therefore only available to commerce that way. Prob only 2,000 - 3,000 sets have been broken up over the years
  6. deffo not kosher
  7. She looks like she is going to give that lovely pair of breasts a right seeing to!!!!!
  8. what a lovely edge - shame about the rest of the messing about by foolish people though. thinking about it the person that caused the damage is probably dead though it look like it was done many moons ago
  9. "pussy" happens to be a banned word on many forums - even when refering to your own cat - was surprised it was allowed
  10. hello 17 - at least you are not damaging uk coins . It was a criminal offence to do that a few years ago, (In the uk of course), so we could all have ratted on you and had you sent to a young offenders institute.
  11. Lidl had sausages on special offer the other week 49p a pound god knows what they contained
  12. SPAM,SPAM,SPAM,EGG AND SPAM BAKED BEANS AND SPAM SPAM ON TOAST SPAM WITH SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM SPAM, SPAM AND SPAM. LOVELY SPAM
  13. Funny enough it is quite common to find mary coins defaced probably contempary damage - they have crosses scratched deeply on the surface . It was probably done during the reign of Elizabeth the first and refers to the fact that mary was catholic . I here she had a thing for the bishop of bath and wells as well but it stopped short when he presented her with his parsnip.
  14. The lions and the lis look different on the forgery less clear and convincing. Overall apart from marys chin quite a convincing coin though. At least we know to look out for them now
  15. hi there hello - did you know the best way to clean coins is with acetone and you could add to that a toothpick - i have always had great results using these two things both seperately and together . Acetone is a strong solvent you can pick up a bottle on ebay for around £5 . It does not harm to toneing or lustre, gets rid of gunk and dirt and allover is the perfect product to use on SOME problem coins. I am sure many users of this forum have had good results from it.....
  16. Wow you live near London. You should have no problem selling the esp if you are based near the m25
  17. If you are near a major town (London , Birmingham or manchester for instance )you might be better off listing them as a pick up only lot on Ebay. Pick a free listing day and put a reasonable reserve on them and hope a newbie collector is interested. You could always leave them at a friend or relatives house if you don't live near a major city. Just keep relisting them till you get the price you want. Other more valueable books , IE peck or freeman's books sell like hot cakes anyway . But the run of the mill stuff i.e. Spink is a bit hard to shift once out of date .
  18. yes they are lauer pieces Totally worthless to coin collectors but can you reuse them for something else?
  19. Amaryllis "Naked Lady" flowers in the Sinkyone Wilderness State Park, California Scientific classification Kingdom: Plantae Clade: Angiosperms Clade: Monocots Order: Asparagales Family: Amaryllidaceae Subfamily: Amaryllidoideae Genus: Amaryllis L. Species Amaryllis belladonna L. Amaryllis paradisicola Snijman Amaryllis (pronounced /ˌæməˈrɪlɨs/[1]) is a small genus of flowering bulbs, with two species. The better known of the two, Amaryllis belladonna, is a native of South Africa, particularly the rocky southwest region near the Cape. For many years there was confusion amongst botanists over the generic names Amaryllis and Hippeastrum, one result of which is that the common name "amaryllis" is mainly used for cultivars of the genus Hippeastrum, widely sold in the winter months for their ability to bloom indoors. Plants of the genus Amaryllis are known as belladonna lily, Jersey lily, naked lady, amarillo or, in South Africa, March lily. This is one of numerous genera with the common name "lily" due to their flower shape and growth habit. However, they are only distantly related to the true lily, from wiki Not sure if these are poisonous to cats like true lilys but to be on the safe side felix will not be sniffing any more of them. ameryllis belladonna lily does not inspire confidence in the poisionous capacity of the flower either
  20. But it's not a lily it's an amaryllis
  21. oh scott you are a tease - you must have more junk coins in your house than anyone on this forum ! But as we all know you tend to pick up lots of decent stuff as well usually for 20p. I am surprised you have never appeared on one of those programmes on tv as a compulsive hoarder.
