  1. As at 19/7 (just under 2 weeks) they had all reached 'Finalising Grade'
  2. From David Groom's book, the features that distinguish Obv 2a from both 1 and 2: In BRITT: Straight leg to 'R' Larger gap 'R' to 'I' In EDWARDVS: Tail of 'R' is straight Tail of 'R' is short Wide gap 'R' to 'D'
  3. How I have missed your dinner plates Dave! I hope that's not a stonking great fingerprint at 10 o'clock on the rev?
  4. Fine for me too now :)
  5. Yep, Alt-PrtScn to copy the pop up window to the clipboard, then Ctrl + V to paste it into Paint.net or whatever. PrtScn to copy the whole screen ... really intuitive eh!
  6. I had to use Photo Bucket Peck
  7. This is what I get using Google Chrome v28:
  8. I have just realised that 6 of these 7 coins were acquired from Forum members! So of course none of then will come back as dodgy!
  9. The two side of this coin, posted on behalf of Soo1962 (Sue):
  10. Coin #6 UIN 28564 (the obv not being one of CGS' finest pics!) :
  11. Coin #3 : UIN 28560:
  12. Coin #2 : UIN 28561:
  13. Rightly or wrongly (depending on your many points of view) I have submitted another small batch of coins to CGS. They tell me to expect about a 6 week turnaround time, which is about a week longer than my first batch took back in February. Some of these will be up for sale, and I was very pleased with the selling prices I got for those I sold from the first batch. So for those of you that like this kind of thing, I invite you to take a stab at the grading CGS will assign to them - they were submitted on 5/7 and pics were available from yesterday 9/7 - there are 7 coins to guess at. Coin #1 : UIN 28558:
  14. Is that the best example they could find for their pics? Doesn't look very attractive to me!
  15. Hi

I'll post it if you email it to me, pdwhittingham60@hotmail.co.uk

    Cheers

  16. Maybe just me but I wouldn't go anywhere near that, perhaps just based on the presentation and the BIN prices, but also instinct screams NO!!
  17. He!s not the largest coin dealer in the world.....he clearly has no idea how to handle proof coins...he must be nearly 90......absolute twaddle..... RChris, you have been warned!
  18. Staggered that a supposedly reputable dealer would handle a supposedly proof $1500 coin without gloves or other protection ... that is 'proof' enough for me that it is not worth what he is asking for it!
  19. I've re-calibrated, re-counted, re-synched the whole forum and have removed the server stored cache files and theoretically it should be fine now! At least, there should certainly be no more disappearing threads, but as for the confusion in the browser bar between predecimal.com/forum and british-coins.com/forum I'm still personally experiencing problems with that. Anyone else having similar issues? This could cause people to become logged out. For the last two or three days (for me) it has been consistently predecimal.com, and there haven't been any problems. Likewise for me
  20. lol, perhaps the guy is trying his luck, crafted in the trenches of the Falklands? He's actually quite honest in his description. He made it himself in the style of 'trench art', so fair enough. I hadn't spotted that, fair enough indeed.
  21. I totally agree. They can also be less bloody sloppy and not get foreign objects, dust, etc onto the coins they encapsulate Or fingerprints!!!!!!!
  22. I couldn't agree more Stuart, I really don't believe that those that collect (especially) US slabs and grades 67-70 have the same collecting urge as we do ... which is fine, each to their own investing/collecting criteria, but right now we are increasingly (if only gradually when it comes to British / hammered) chasing after the same coins. If it was a totally separate sphere of collecting we wouldn't give a damn, would we??
