1860 Bronzed Proof Penny - Photos
Chingford replied to cathrine's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
In my own opinion, Atlas have been open and honest about the coin, they have not hidden the fact when asked that the coin has treated/cleaned, but it has been done professionally but I do feel if a coin has been treated it should be disclosed on the slab. I am sure that when NGC first started the conservation side, before PCGS started offering the service, coins were cleaned and graded but the slab stated NGC Conservation on them, seems now this isn't the case anymore, probably down to pressure from Clients -
Trump v Clinton

I raised a question with this seller last year, He had listed a 1860 Copper halfpenny, from his own collection acquired over a good number of years, I cant remember the full facts but the 1960s was mentioned The coin was a forgery, a Chinese copy that had appeared recently, and I was looking out for, he was unapologetic in his response to my message and continued with the auction, I reported the coin to Ebay and it was subsequently removed from sale The coin could only have been bought a few months at most from the date listed, so it is without doubt he knew it was a fake and tried to pass it of as genuine

'The Question' was discussed several times, I remember watching news programmes were the question was asked as to what the ballot paper would ask, Cameron said it would be a simple in/out and that was then voted for in Parliament As for the outcome, both sides, Remain/Leave had their say and based on those views the electorate chose

Trump v Clinton
Chingford replied to 1949threepence's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
Couple of things intrigue me, The person defending Clinton in the interview regarding the emails never once mention the email content, the illegal server or destroying of evidence, only stating they were obtained illegally and the Russians may be involved in supplying them to WikiLeaks, who subsequently had his email access blocked by Ecuadorian Embassy soon after the first leak, the same Embassy defending his rights to Freedom of speech by granting asylum from extradition to Sweden (allegations of indecent assault) and the USA (WikiLeaks charges), wonder what that cost Hillary. I don't think how they were obtained really matters at the moment, the part that does is the fact it shows the server used to be insecure and that classified information formed part of these email exchanges One recent release showed the Clinton Foundation has moved several $million to Qatar in the last few weeks, maybe they knew something was coming and are preparing the ground ready for a hasty retreat I think she has benefited from executive privileges claimed by Bill during his terms, and Obama is too busy thinking of his future to get involved -
$500 Trillion last estimate

Main influence is in USA, one of the big families running the country by all accounts, which it is suggested includes Bush, Kennedy and Clinton

Read a bit of a private speech given by Jim Mellor to German investors in Munich, copied below "The main and worst decision that was ever made by the European Union was to introduce a common currency whi...ch is now in 18 of your countries. That common currency is a disastrous economic experiment. It is probably the worst economic experiment in the history of recorded economics. If anyone here feels that the Euro is going to remain as a currency I’d be happy to debate them on it because I think it has very limited time life left. The problems are mounting every day. The cracks are there and what I raised in 2006 about the coming economic collapse, it was two years until that happened. I would say the Euro has between 1 and 5 years left of life and its gone as it currently stands. The reason why I wanted us to be out - and it is a selfish point - is because when the boat sinks you want to be on the lifeboat, you don’t want to be on the main ship singing the national anthem, or Ode to Joy in the case of the EU, and being dragged down in the wake. The collapse of the Euro, which is in my opinion a certainty, is going to have unbelievable economic consequences. All banks will have to be nationalised, they have to be recapitalised and changed. There is going to be a tremendous break-up of debt, who owns what in terms of debt. Who goes into a new stronger currency union or does every country have its own individual currency. All these questions are unanswerable at the moment. But anyone who thinks that the Euro is going to remain as a currency in its current form I think is absolutely deluded"

Chingford replied to Michael-Roo's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I believe this particular coin had only 20 minted, 15 were known and two others have been found within the last two years, only three left to find. any more than that turn up, we will know the Chinese found them first -

The £2 Trial were officially released by the RM as a commemorative, the pack shows the Trial in four stages including the finished coin, the £1 Trial in question are being marketed by others trusted the coins to test equipment, who have decided to profit from them The Coin mentioned in Chris's book marked Trial both sides would probably be treated the same as the £1 Trial and be recalled as it would have been gained in similar circumstances

A clean break would be quicker and better for the UK rather than trying to piece together something, we already know that ALL 27 nations have to be in complete agreement for any deal to go through, Look at Canada, 10 years negotiating, one refusal, the deal is dead. We already know the biggest benefactors of the Freedom of movement to their own economies have said they would block any deal without freedom of movement.

Trump v Clinton
Chingford replied to 1949threepence's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
The last paragraph is the truth, the establishment run the country, the problem they have is they cant buy Trump, his own Republican Party are against him even before the latest scandal came out, They much prefer Clinton as she knows how the system is suppose to work and is partial to the odd free dollar In my opinion the last constructive President was a common man, with no affiliation to the establishment, and who said it like it was, Ronald Regan -
Each to their own, I have no problem with any slabbing companies and also feel everyone is entitled to protect, grade and store their coins as they see fit, my objection is mud slinging based on a false argument. Nice to see Someone turn up this time

I think the point PWA is making here is the negative comments from person or persons who have never used CGS/LCGS or even intend to, merely acting on hearsay, a complaint or in the interest of others, a good example of which played out for over a year on this Forum regarding following a rejected coin.
-
But isn't that exactly what you pay other Grading Companies for, their opinion, if it adds value all well and good, if it doesn't that would only concern those that bought to sell short-term, i.e. dealers
-
There have been, reputedly, over 80 slabbing companies worldwide, some were very short-lived and now gone, but in the case of LCGS I think they can take comfort in that they are continuingly mentioned and compared with the big two, who, it would seem, do well with Heritage Auctions, I sure one or two of our American members could confirm the encouragement and leaning towards encapsulation, especially NGC, when consigning to HA As for the comparison on numbers, the figures quoted from DNW are comparable to 25% the NGC submission and 10% of the PCGS submission, in a relatively short time, they are showing a growing presence in other Auction Houses as you rightly point out The UK has always had a different grading system to the USA and LCGS reflect this, they offer a comparison between the two, it is really the reluctance to accept this grading system that holds the US Market back from LCGS encapsulated coins, but in time it will come, I agree with PWA there

The Aquatics coin sell for a lot more now, one sold a few months back for £1,250.00 BIN on Ebay in its original sealed packaging, loose they seem to find their mark around £600/800 dependent on overall condition, these tend to be those removed for placing into the display before the rarity was discovered. The Battle of Britain coin is not one I have heard before

Then take it down if you feel it is inappropriate,
