  1. Sorry Paulus, but
  2. These guys are good aren't they? Even though I've been here a few years, I still marvel at the knowledge and helpfulness of the people on this forum, I hope you'll stay onboard, you've got some decent queries going on!
  3. Sorry for any confusion, it was Flash's post I was curious about and asked images for! Sorry if that stressed out your camera, Goom!
  4. Please do go into it, and provide photos if possible! We're always up for updating our knowledge in these areas.
  5. And supply and demand!
  6. Whoooo hoo, get you...will look into that!
  7. It's true the £107 bid was made 4 minutes after bidding opened, but you need other bidders to push the current winning bid up and it took nearly 2 days to pass the £100 mark. Of course, but this is my def of protection/shilling! List a coin, protect it immediately with a bid you won't accept less than (the newly listed brigade are surely smart enough not to place their top bid within 4 mins of listing, with 7/10 days to run, hoping they'll get a bargain?), and then go to bed for the week, forgetting all about it!That's how I see it! ???
  8. NOT an open 3 - and it would be the finest known if it was!! So relax.. Finest known jumped to my excited heart for a couple of mins too! I thought for a last min snipe, whilst painting the boat, brush in one hand, phone in the other, it was worth a pop!
  9. I'll have to relook, as I honestly thought the £100+ bid time was minutes after the listing time?
  10. Is mine the middle one?Edit: aye, I should've let Trac buy it!
  11. Fashion. Ayephones being a 'must have' accessory, all the embedded faults are therefore 'must have faults'. Get yourself a cheap mobile for a tenner and enjoy a hassle free life. Few people need to do much more than phone or text as the screens are too small to be very practical for surfing the web.I'm back, having flattened the battery! You are of course right Rob I'm caught though! Paulus, sadly no option to disconnect the battery with the o-so-amazing iPhone, you've got to suffer until the bitter flat-battery end!
  12. Not sure where I am on this forum, as I can't see...however, this is the second time mt phone had jammed on the forum, requiring the battery to flatten before I can move on! I can't even switch the phone off, but couldne an ageing phone, though has all updates! Can't even phone. Friend! Phone or software?
  13. Nope, a million miles out...it does have the words 'coin' in it!
  14. Or where the stock comes from! Do you think they need a forum link to this thread, just to calm them down a bit? £122 within 4 mins is good going with over a week to run...c'mon B'coe, sort it out!
  15. Double grrrrrrrrr! Edit: Just out of interest, I noted that eBay have rejigged my user name...the letters are now different AND not in sequence!
  16. What's the thoughts on the open 3, amazing grade if it is! Edit: Will let you know when it arrives, of course!
  17. It's one of the first ever milled sixpences (ie not hammered)! It's the small bust with Lis mm, Spink 2599!Welcome aboard, and nice find!
  18. I'm actually in bed now, but will double check in the morning, though I'm pretty sure Dave Groom only had varieties in either 1940 or 1941 for the G6 halfpennies (I can't remember which)? A '45 major variety would be pretty major, I'm sure it must be unusual wear, but would absolutely love to be wrong on this!
  19. You have me at a disadvantage now, as I'm looking on the iPhone, and your images are not really grade-friendly! What I would say, though, which is important for the variety-point you raise, is that, regardless of the overall grade of either of the coins, there is definitely wear or weak-strike in the region of the date on the coin with the 'broad-numeral' date, which can be clearly seen in the waves of your earlier posted images! In all honesty, if you are looking for hitherto undiscovered varieties of the 20thC period, you will need to be looking at the macro level, on coins in extremely high grade, to find them, and especially if you want to get them acknowledged by the numismatic establishments. You spoke of Dave Groom & Chris's books, I'm guessing you know Chris is the host of this site, and that Dave is a regular visitor/member, maybe he could take a look and encourage you in your search. It's great that you are so enthusiastic, all the best discussions on here generally start this way. Keep it coming!
  20. I don't fully understand the bidder readings but, would I be right in thinking that this 300943501479 was bid to £120 in under 4 mins of it being listed? Very few auction coins hit such lofty heights with a week still to go! Edit: PS thanks for the earlier link Azda!
  21. Yes, I remember annoyingly being refunded my PayPal money on numerous occasions! I only ever swallowed it because they posted on arrival of cheque, rather than make you wait for clearance. It's a husband and wife team I think, S&H?
  22. I'm wondering, Rob, it's gone crazy for them! Their coins are hitting top dollar, well before auction finish...the Mary Groat with flan-flaw finished at £158 and had been bucked up to over a £100 before early evening! £202.00 for that 6d is good work!
