    I just don't see what purpose they serve overseas (or here, for that matter), why would somebody want a fantasy piece, when they can get something genuine?Is it a gift for relatives scenario abroad, on account of "what else do you buy them", or is it ignorance to the fact that 'genuine' coins are still in existence? I find it odd! Even stranger than the immeasurable "thunk" that is the coin collector!

    This is what I use! Edit: in the 6 per page A5 numis albums! Perfect for portability and, most importantly, browsing!

    "Consignment" is total submission per auction. Presumably your two coins would have been fine with others making weight? Yes, I would say so...but that's a remarkably privileged position they find themselves in, that they can turn their nose up at a grand's worth of coins or, putting it a different way, around £300 of profit (buyers & sellers prem.) from handling 2 coins! I was genuinely surprised!

    I always thought this: and of course, whatever excuse, this... were very pretty coins! (albeit the 2nd coin is a 'retoning' coin, though I am certainly in no mood to rush it )

    Yes, I meant that it'd be odd to use such a punch on Elizabeth's coins and, even if it were used, it would be a most unusual place for it as it doesn't fit in with the design and doesn't strike me as a 'countermark'. TimeLines told me that their 'coin experts' believed it to be a letter E. I'm still not convinced. Nor I...someone arsing around I reckon!

    Whilst odd to use such a punch of Edward posthumously it strikes me as more odd that it is used in such a location on the coin. I think we've got crossed wires, as the punch was used posthumously on the Edward coins in the Elizabeth reign! If it was the greyhound punch on the sixpence, it could only ever have been someone messing around at the mint, so its purpose and location on the coin would be meaningless anyway! It's too unlikely to be a possibility, of course!

    Now here's a turn up for the book! I have a couple (two) coins of around a £1000 the pair, which I thought I'd submit to Heritage to try them out! I received an email today apologising that they couldn't accept my submission, as it didn't meet their minimum requirement of $5000!
