  1. Well cleaned! Is that our friend? He gives a new meaning to "cleaning up". Yup it is, so its the bestest coin of that year you'll ever see, until he gets another that is and drops it in the silver dip by accident etc etc etc
  2. This one is a beauty though, choice near UNC, after a bit of spit and polish, not forgetting the huge dig on the OBV etc, some muppet will buy it, GVF after cleaning http://cgi.ebay.com/1936-GEORGE-V-WREATH-CROWN-EXTREMELY-RARE-/330583898897?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item4cf855fb11
  3. Welcome to the forum mtwc. I have recently found Warwick to be a lost cause for me and haven't bid for 3 sales now. Their low estimates aren't a problem for me, it's the inexplicable prices that are being achieved on low grade milled crap. I hope you enjoyed the ashes series (both of the last 2) as much as I did ;-) Just for Azda (that's cricket Dave, a game played by gentlemen, oh and Aussies) I'd rather watch Newcastle UTD than cricket, better still, watching paint dry would be more exciting Dave, for a man whose nations greatest sporting achievements involve sweeping a sheet of ice infront of a stone with a handle fixed to it, I'll treat your sports knowledge with the contempt it deserves! We are merely a small population of 5 Million plus 2 million sheep, compared to your 37 Million plus 14 million pakistanis and 9 million Poles, your achievements in the sporting world should surpass ours natrually, i'm still waiting for the one thing that the English always come up with..............

By the way, how did your tennis boy get on against the Spaniard? Our Tennis boy did better than ermmmmmm (how many English boys) actually got so far? I believe Mr Murray has done better in his short career than most of your English boys in their entire careers I bet if he won it though he'd be British, but because he's out now he's Scottish

  7. Thought i'd pop this in here for all the Maundy Money lovers. http://www.maundymoney.info/
  8. Notice he hasn't actually shown us the CGS label ... Anyway, the coin has been 'basted' - what else do you expect? You can see the label on the first link, it does say CGS
  9. It was bought by sidcrampton, he also Said he didn't think its been cleaned
  10. Mine aren't online except what I've posted in these forums. But, if the Tantalus grid is available to all users, then given time I could upload a representative selection to my own version of the grid. Do you have the URL, where we could get started?
  11. But how can you get better than BU? Oh wait, add a plus lol
  12. Hello and welcome. This is whats commonly known as ghosting.
  13. Yet another new grade, do the Americans just make these up as they go along? WTF is BU++ Is'nt BU BU end of? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1864-Indian-Head-Penny-COPPER-NICKEL-SOLID-GEM-BU-/270767673905?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item3f0b02d231
  14. You can also host the picture on photobucket and then copy and paste the code into your comment and we'll see the picture
  15. I'd say cleaned for starters
  16. I wouldn't be surprised if he bought the 1869 + the 1864, for a negotiated price of $2000 for the pair. Time will tell Mike
  17. ...and let's face it, Barack Obama isn't even Barack Obama Is Peck of African Carribean descent then? Are you swinging big guy?
  18. Lol, My point is that it looked like the ice age, in June, in what was supposed to Be Scotlands most best city for sunshine apparently :-/
  19. From JMBs pics the toning does look uneven, maybe the reason he took pics in the dark lol
  20. In order for MP to make any profit from that sale JB would have to have come down quite a distance on that 1869, at the very least $300 just to break even on the figure that MP Sold it for and there's not many dealers who'd come down that distance for such a key date in that grade
  21. rlc35 is another American with a taste of British who is a frequent user of the forum. Welcome to the forum Your Monarch run seems just that, Monarchs without specific denomination, is that your intention, or will you try for a particular series, ie pennies, shilling etc?
  22. You mean all that cleaning he did was in vain? Lol, i don't think it was cleaned Peck, he just could'nt up the grade (like he normally does) because of the obvious wear. The original seller had it listed as AU am sure, 1949 had mentioned it to me sometime this year when we were talking about buying key dates and i said i did'nt agree with jmb4homes grade, it seems i was right, the wear on Britannians legs and on Victoria was evident from the original dark pictures from jmb4home On the flip it was marked at XF which is a VF+ in our terms. The edge bruises were also mentioned.A fair seller it seems. A fair seller thats always wanting book prices unfortunately. Pity other ebay sellers are more ecinomical with the truth

Also -- there may not have been a loss on this coin as the auction notes that "this listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available." The listing ended early because MP had bought it. The grade of EF was obviously not EF, hence the fact when i saw it myself late last year i didn't go for it because i knew the grading was out. MP bought it thinking the grading to be EF and was looking for bigger money than the initial seller was selling for, obviously when it arrived in MPs hand it definately was'nt EF and therefor could'nt list as such, he did make an attempt though listing as GVF/EF but in my eyes merely VF to GVF and thats the reson he lost so much on it. Agreed -- MP did buy it -- but apparently outside of ebay and quite likely for a lower price so he may not have lost money on this coin. Here is a link to another completed auction from the same seller which ended with a 'buy it now' and indicates what the item sold for: link The 1869 was initially at $1400 the link indicates it was sold for $1350 and judging by jmb4homes prices i very seriously doubt he'd come down the $300 plus in order for MP to break even
