  1. 1st will Be either a william IV penny or halfpenny spink 3845 for the penny and spink 3847 for the half if its a penny the dia is 34 mm half is 28mm Price would depend on grade The 2nd would have to Be Geo I with a date of 1726 but with a lion on a.crown doesn't ring any bells so would have to assume Geo IV 1820-1830 shilling, possibly 1826 and not 1726
  2. here's another with the H to the left http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/140559825023?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp5197.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D140559825023%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
  3. Sounds like Martin Platt, but As they say, a sale is a sale, also bear in mind Derek the old adage, one Mans grade may not be anothers, even though you wrote the book lol

The salad in question Scott came from Spain apparently Peter, send me your coins to polish, that way we can take your coins out of the population equasion, i'll happily give them a good buffing for you
  5. Ok, this has to be an ebay laugh, andy yes its my old friend. Soooooooooooo a coin slabbed by CGS graded as AU75 and Mr Platt is now selling as UNC, why? Well in his own words This example has been officially slabbed by CGS as AU 75 although, upon closer inspection, we can see this coin has never been in circulation and has superb beautiful original mint lustre. Now what i'd like to know is, CGS take a raw coin, they scope it, grade and slab it, so how the hell can he take a closer inspection when its in a slab, this man talks the biggest lot of pish (thats Scottish by the way) since Bill Clinton said he didn't have sexual relations with Monica Lewinski, anyhoo, here's the link. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/330575155743?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D%2B330575155743%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

I'm very sceptical that the wife offered to put them away for you then threw them down the stairs, something does'nt add up here
  7. Ok, i've just come across a new grade, can someone tell me what UNC+ is. This guy is a freaking joke, the bloody thing has a hole in it http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/380344995725?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D380344995725%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1
  8. I suppose its all down to demand and eye appeal Vicky, i reckon minimum should be around the 100 GBP mark and with lustre etc heading towards the 150 + mark, as i said its more to do with eye appeal. Martin Platts 1868 penny he sold this week, bought from the St James auction for 550 GBP has a Spink price guide of 925 in UNC, he said it was UNC, St James sold it as nUNC and it sold for 1120 GBP, 195 over spinks guide, so its all about eye appeal IMO
  9. I tried it through the iphone and it didn't work.
  10. To be honest, these sort of price guides are great if there are specialists of each country participating in the guides. I know f all about american coins, so would'nt tell an american that a specific coin is worth X. This is what annoys me about Krause and all the others that try and tell a price of a British coin, and lets not forget that they don't get into the varities either, so unfortunately, i'm not so keen, and the picture of the 1902 Low tide penny was of a VF or a tad better, and in A BLACK AND WHITE picture with a UNC guide of 250 dollars
  11. Try to find out more on the theft on the 1933 penny, anyone any info or where i could read about it. Was it reported in the press etc?
  12. The lighthouse in the Bunhead REVs, is the lighthouse supposed to represent the eddystone lighthouse?
  13. 1st bust, and looks ok to me. A bit worn and knackered, but genuine. Rob was describing the coin and not some of the members of the forum

  15. What did i miss?
  16. Man U had 228 passes to Barcas 618, Man Utd were simply kicking it up the park whereas Barca were passing it through the park. I don't think i ever saw i kick up the pitch from Barca, even their corners were short, so there tells the story
  17. J Sung Park is the man who will have the task of keeping Messi in check tonight me thinks
  18. No, a guy who bought a coin from me at the begining of this year, kept in touch with him since, swapping pics of what we bought etc, He just sent me the pics of it today and here they are. There is a thumb print under the extended arm of Britannia
  19. Ok i realise a majority of you hate Man U, so try putting that aside for a minute, who do you think will win tonight?
  20. He's sold some serious coins in the last month or so on ebay, so there are still serious collectors looking on the bay to
  21. I've spoke to this guy a few times over ebay, he's a genuine collector, or was until he was forced to sell his collection a few years back because of a divorce. He's had a few nice coins listed recently, but i don't think he's much left now
  22. I think that they should arrive in a couple of days. Does the mail system work well in the UK? I'm in Munich Forna, they arrived yesterday
  23. Can you Show US something with silver, pre 1920, such as a 1905 Florin or halfcrown? The before and after melting point would be great
  24. I have to Be honest, when i 1st started collecting Coins i had nö idea of the spectrum. I initially started with German Coins but obviously being in Germany i was competing against a nation. I sold what i had then decided on British coins, again my collecting thoughts were all over the place and was buying allsorts until i stumbled across a BU Penny and 400 for a Penny on this site. My point is, it does'nt matter what we think about collecting habits, if i could afford rarer coins i'd simply buy what has eye appeal to me, whether proof or not, i'd love more rarities in My collection, if i could afford them then i'd have kept that 1905 halfcrown, unfortunately its not the case and we have to respect everyones buying habits whether we like it or not.
