  1. I emailed the seller asking why it had been relisted, he sent me an eBay generated email stating that our other friend surrey*Coins had bought the item and wanted to return it. It would obviously Stick out like a sore thumb inbetween the shite He sells so thought better to send it back lol
  2. Thats what i was referring to Peck. 310 was a decent price
  3. A strange one this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230661832008?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D230661832008%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VICTORIA-1875-PENNY-NGC-MS65-VERY-RARE-/230666378447?_trksid=p4340.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DDLSL%252BSIC%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D8%26pmod%3D230661832008%252B230661832008%26po%3D%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D2425792528789493448
  4. Apparently Scott, there has been 2 very good books published on this very subject. Freeman and Gouby?
  5. I think it was about 12 months ago Peter, 1st time i heard about it was when the ebay seller alfnail was selling one on ebay, it was less than Fine grade and sold for 540 quid i believe. I think that there's more known than the 7 Michael Gouby has now noted. The guy who own this one in the 1st post has noted himself 7 already in various auctions, then there's his, plus the one davidrj found and the one i have so that's 10 so far.Maybe John Stephenson has one, maybe it's time to dig out those old 1863s and take a looksy
  6. I took the picture on the balcony of my spanish villa retreat, maybe its the spanish sun
  7. No, its an aquaintance of mine that owns that one. God knows the value of that
  8. and another. 5-10 known is turning into 10-20
  9. No need for a blow up David.............It is an open 3, and apparently the finest known
  10. The collar is actually in 3 pieces with joins as follows; DECUS/ET TUTAMEN*/ANNO REGNI/L... The joins on some coins can be more noticeable than others. Thanks for that Derek, was a little worried initially
  11. Ok, so these next 2 pix was why i was a little nervous about this coin. I'm begining to think that it might be normal on this crown as i though the 2 lines were at opposite ends of each other, they are in fact at the begining of the ET TUTAMEN and end of the same. Am i right in thinking its the norm as i've never had a Crown so don't really know.
  12. This is 1 of 4 coins i got from a German auction. Weight is correct, the dia should be 38.6mm this is 38.75 give or take. I'll photograph the rim in the morning to show you why i'm concerned about it, but for now, can anyone see anything wrong with it? Sorry in advance for the big pix, these are for attribution purposes Peck
  13. Not all Germans like cleaned coins, but a majority do, i tend to steer clear. I have a scenario which is, that all things that glitter is gold these days. I sold recently the 1904 toned florin, did'nt do that well to be honest. I got another the other day (still awaiting its arrival) a 1910 Florin, this one is big and shiny, so we'll see how that goes, although saying that, it migh be the auction house picture, but i doubt it. Here are the 2 side by side
  14. When he says "full", Joey, he means the size of St Paul's Cathedral
  15. Do you have a full picture to upload Joey, we do like nice coins here
  16. In this world of information overload I would doubt there being any gems in bulk lots. I have noted Surrey*coins have been selling overgraded polished / dipped coins on Ebay. Iphone underbidder investigations? This is old news. They have been doing so at least since I started using ebay in 2003 and presumably before that too. I pointed it out as they were seemingly shilling for Platt and wondered if they were getting any "help " I actually pointed out to one buyer from surrey*coins that his UNC 1834 Halfcrown had been dipped. He obviously went back to surrey and asked for his cash back, and in the words of the buyer "it was the worst experience of his life" Obviously surrey was not happy at the fact he wanted his cash back, or maybe the fact he'd sold it at 385 quid which he would have been very happy with, unfortunately i had to step in and tell the bloke it was dipped. If surrey had noted this in his ebay description then it would'nt have been such a problem. I saw it again recently, he obviously tried to make it less "stoney looking" as it had visible signs of polishing, and yes he does sell overgraded/polished/dipped shite. On the plus side though, trading standards have been in touch with me regarding my list of MPs activities asking if they could have it, it will be my pleasure sir and i hope you're reading Mr Platt, i hear big Bubba is waiting for you with a bar of soap big boy.
  17. Most of the letters seem to be out of the proper alignment, which is a bit odd. The earlier Victorian coins were usually of a high standard of workmanship. Issues like these would tend to make me a little suspicious. There are many fake gold coins. Thet are not usually sought for their varieties. An investment....Ummm.A nice good portrait hammered Liz would be about the same price. You mean something like this Peter`?
  18. Obviously someone with to much money to burn in the hope there will be a few gems amoungst the lots. Time will tell, it was certainly no collector that bidded on all the lots, maybe my friend Mr Platt, if it was, he'll make his money back no doubt
  19. Been looking around for a Sovereign for my sons birthday next month (a small investment for him) and came across this one. I thought the legend was punched together on coins, but i can't see how it can be judging by the A in VICTORIA, (or was it added later after minting) its definately more straighter than the other letters in the legend. Thoughts anyone?
  20. Zum Geburstag viel glück Happy birthday Patrick, how many candles are on the birthday cake today?
  21. I don't think its anything over the 6 Joey, probably a small mark next to it. I've enlarged your OBV picture
  22. The only piece NGC has graded but i'm sure other 3rd grading companies will have graded a similar coin, you can look up population reports for PCGS and CGS, but i have seen a few of these. Still, a nice coin and there is a thread called coin aquisition of the week with 115 pages of latest aquisitions
  23. Definately 8/7 the down stroke of the 7 is quite visible through the 2 loops of the 8. Will you be selling it now
  24. Minus the 10% ebay fee the listing fee and Paypal surcharge, so it wil be even less than that unfortunately. I'd be interested to hear what the other coins are if its not to much trouble, perhaps to many to list?
