ghosting happened even with the small head i think it was on halfpennys and farthings as well. so ME is either R3 or R4 :/ and i dont see 1897 high tide being R14 i can see there being more then 500 of those i like the imperial portrait
this happens becase the governments do not care, it isnt in curculation it doesnt matter. http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis/Article.jsp?ad=article&ArticleId=18178 US congress is having a look it seems
i would go on a limb and say that 1/4 were ME's. they do appear more often that say 1869 and 1871, maybe the reason no one kept them was because money was tight around that period so were more likely to be spent.
those scout 50p's are hard to find.. i have only ever seen 3 of them :/, 2 of which were owned by others that 1981 crown does look far better in gold tbh, i got a guilded and holed bun head halfpenny, nice little curiosity
i have one coin i bought under scrap (1882 halfcrown) and i wouldn't consider melting it, afterall, the minting figures on these wern't exactly high in the first place.
was looking on about farthings at the varietys for 1773. mine is the same as that reverse except mine has the last 3 is the one that the one on the picture is recut over (BRITAN closly placed) there is also a dot after the date, the obverse is obverse B (the nose pointings between A and B are slightly differant ) so what to do, is this now the offical 9+B? or is this 11+B as we already have a 10? from what i can see the current reverse 9 came AFTER this one (as i said the 3 on the current REV 9 is over the location of the 3 on mine)
i wonder if there is is an 1863 die 6? and now i have to look through the 1926's... thanks i wasnt aware of any differance in reverses from 1926 and 27
