  1. Wouldn't those be better categorized as Fantasy pieces....
  2. Can't tell for sure, but depending upon the date, I would suspect that they are 2 variants of the same reverse. .. G Read note 4 regarding reverse G in the article. . Some reverse G's are missing rocks to the left of the lighthouse, mainly from 1861 to 1863.
  3. Although the status of the 1860 & 1862 coins could be debated ad naseum (depending upon how mule-headed the debaters are) there is no doubt that the Jamaican obverse penny is a mule by any definition of the term.
  4. An excellent reference for halfpennies is Iain Dracott's article on Victorian bronze halfpennies as well as Malcolm Lewendon's cd with images based upon the Dracott article....
  5. LOL ..... not even on my mind, I'll get there eventually. ....... maybe before my 15th anniversary here in August 2020.......
  6. Sorry about the duplicate postings, I was not getting a submitted message, just the same button to submit the message.... If a moderator could remove the duplicate posts, I (as well as everyone else) would appreciate it... Thank you....
  7. It would be difficult to find a dealer that is as knowledgeable and as much a gentleman as he..... I believe that I said it before, especially as I collect copper and bronze, that if I could only have 1 dealer to work with, I would pick Michael Gouby. ....

  14. The question you posed was, "Where did the extra pound go?" The "solution", if you will, is the explanation that there NEVER was an extra pound to be found (except possibly upon those 3 who dined at that restaurant [although if 3 people shared 1 meal, I doubt that they have an extra ounce, let alone a pound ]).
  15. You couldn't ask for a nicer, more knowledgeable , more reliable, and fair dealer..... I've never been disappointed with my purchases from him......
  16. It's £27 (£9 each) for the meal, plus £3 (£1 each) for the overpayment = £30 ....
  17. Peck is generally considered to be the definitive work on the subject and I believe the 1970 edition is the second printing and most recent edition. A must have reference for your library.... One caveat to remember; there have been many new discoveries since that last printing, so you will have to supplement it with other resources.... However it is the starting point from which all others embark...
  18. All references to it that I am aware of also consider it a filled die..... Not a true no H... That being said, consider the classic example of the so called 1922 "plain" Lincoln cent (US)... They were only struck at the Denver mint and should have a D mintmark ... However due to a filled die we now have a 1922 WEAK D and the rare 1922 PLAIN.... This example gives credence to the theory that it is merely a filled die..... Its rarity and value will be determined by market demand....
  19. Actually I have more "cents" (read as pennies) than money.....
  20. Iain Dracott mentions it in his description of reverse G in his 2004 article. Item 4 in his description. "4. Some reverse G have missing rocks left of lighthouse, mainly on 1861-1863."
  21. Not even close.... They did get the date and the reverse correct....
