  1. Top chap Mr Freeman. Your work is brilliant....You sir are a bit of collecting history.
  2. Hic There is nothing better than a Sunday lunch with wine (Chefs spoils innit) Now I know why parents/grandparents slept after Xmas dinner (I found the empty sherry bottles)
  3. I love early copper but have more or less turned to type collecting including hammered and foreign. Early French,Irish,Scottish and US are also in my radar.
  4. Have a great day my old mukker.
  5. Welcome back Tim I do love Dorset Have you a preference in coins? Keep posting as we all learn.
  6. Best wishes Clive After hiring a Dawes trekking bike in Cornwall I bought one on returning home. Result Strong calfs and a sore bum.
  7. Nice My first serious girlfriend was a ginger.....game lass...ahaa the delights of a Morris Marina Coupe.
  8. I did detect a few sherbets were downed. When drinking a good cider where is the cut off point?
  9. Fine ? I DON'T THINK SO.
  10. Retirement for me is now 67....2 years just like that has cost me for the state pension. Nordle it will be 80 when you retire.
  11. Thanks for your replies gents I will give some thought on this. I did get Which mags free advice and often visit moneysavingexpert. Plenty of avenues to explore.
  12. A great starting point would be Collectors Coins GB 2015. This covers George 111 to 1970 (Available from this site/Amazon ETC) It is great value. Welcome
  13. I have 3 funds. 1 big 2 smaller. At 55 the idea is to take 25% of the funds tax free. Would it be better to transfer to 1 fund or just claim 25% from each 1 ? I'm so peed off with pathetic annuities which are going South. I'm looking for free advice No debts. 2 properties and 2 daughters who have moved out
  14. Well done all of you. Steve's site and coins are amazing.
  15. Go for it Rob.

RPP May I suggest Englands stricking history available from this site/amazon Etc An excellent read which should help in IDing coins. A very reasonable price too (£7/£8) I seem to remember.
  17. One for you, Peter. Tealby of Bury. Probably why I don't pursue Tealby.

RPP Nice coins Do you detect by chance?
  19. The postage will out weigh the coins value for ebay. A dealer wouldn't touch them. Maybe a card in your local news agents window. I would expect much over £10.
  20. Good to hear from you Geordie It is one of those ...nice for issue. Ed 1 1d's early issues were awful and in my lessor informed days several went back. I then appreciated a decent one would cost a fortune(for an early Ed 1) You either like it our you don't that is why with hammered I'm a type collector. I had to have my Bury mints though. Moving forward 17C/18C copper is generally crap so it is eye appeal for me every time.
  21. Dave Thanks for the heads up from our pal from Cornwall. I tried to bid on one of his auctions a while back and I was banned.... Me surely not. I have a place in my cabinet for the variety but he can do one Its not a be all and end all. My list of copper farthings 1672 -1956 inc varieties is dwindling.(Thanks Colin ) I've picked up some goodens recently which are duplicates and will pay their way. Plenty of small date 58's 1771 type b's and 1859. (never listed by CC) i'm waiting for Colin Goodes publication to get my early retirement. Although 55 next year I can take my poncy retirement fund at 25% tax free....guess where my cash is going. ?
  22. Wonderful coin Paulus
  23. Good advice! Phew indeed! joseph kennedy Flat 1 281 London Road South Lowestoft Probably one of Peter's relatives I imagine. Lowestoft is 50 miles away Paulus I live in WEST Suffolk the neighbours are acres away.
