The information is in Krause but what a slog.
  2. The claims should be against NGC. I don't blame the auctioneers although they should have pulled them from the original auction after being warned by experts. The pleasure of trusting TPG's...experts NOT.

This is an excellent reference site to ID World silver coin. http://currencydebasement.com/high-silver#S
  4. I have had new item trays tried to be pulled out of my grasp by other dealers. However I'm 6ft and nearly 15 st so it won't happen. I've got my favourite dealers where there is a good communication.I see these first. A lot of the older dealers don't know how to work the internet.I never rip off but get everyone happy with a deal. You can only skin a sheep once but take wool every year...Take cash. Great facilities.
  5. Edit Red,red wine..goes to my head.
  6. CC has a 1861 5 berries EF for £14 but no pickie.
  7. I expect you have a choice example already Peter, good news being you wont be bidding! I'll probably bid up to around £65 as it has great eye appeal for me, doubt that that will win it though! You might be suprised. However I'm aware of the US contingent buying a common coin from ColinCooke for a few £ and slabbing them. I buy raw whenever I can to pop straight into the cabinet/tray with MY description/grade.
  8. It has still a bit of mileage in it EF is £40 Unc £95 BU £130 according to CCGB 2012/13. It will look great in hand....being a tight fisted sod if I wanted it maybe £60+.There are better but not often encounted.
  9. Thanks again, I might have a dabble later! Everyone else, keep off!! You are being worryingly normal tonight Peter! If you had a sneaky lottery win that Mrs P didn't need to know about, and you negotiated £4k-ish for the 2005 HC with CC, would you go for it? I know you want one!! I am on line in Barbados.Don't tell Mrs Peter. I'm at a stage when I would prefer a true UNC ED7 rather than overpriced key dates.A type collector away from 1/4d's
  10. It still retains traces of lustre in the legends, especially the obverse.I would suggest not "spangled" and just toned to a mainly brown finish with traces of lustre.I have no problems with it.
  11. Never used the seller. Good feedback though. The coin looks a nice strike on the obverse with a few bag marks. The reverse looks a weaker strike on the shield especially. I can't see whether it is 4 or 5 berries but values are similar.Maybe worth a punt to about £40/50 ish.GEF+ money.
  12. I believe it just has a reeded edge.
  13. Paulus that is whizzed,cleaned,dipped.
  14. Dave you worry me. I always thought you were a nice Scottie who liked his tummy rubbed. A big hairy Jock with a Kilt and Bollocks as big as an Aberdeen Angus spoils it.
  15. I paid over £50 for the proof set in a red box. The cheapo plastic sets minus the Crown are dirt cheap.
  16. I am lolling here with 2 broken ribs but I've recieved CC latest catalogue and am tempted.Trouble is 5.5k can't be hidden from Mrs Peter. The new bloody kitten with its cat carrier box is my damage plus it has ripped off most of my wallpaper in the landing and hall....plus he has found away of getting in the fridge...Bloody Darwin.
  17. The halfcrown is common. The pictures awfull....I would have kept well clear.
  18. Ouch. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1853-VICTORIA-BRITISH-FARTHING-COIN-FULL-LUSTRE-/170981517909?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item27cf4aea55
  19. I'm just picking my toungue up from the floor.
  20. Good rant John. Sometimes I just need to go fishing or take our dog to the beach and search for amber/fossils and then bury my head in coins.Have a Cuban and a large malt.Life isn't all bad
  21. Exellent news summary and comments I notice on USA based forums that all the silver in circulation is being coin roll searched (USA,Canada and Aussie) and stashed away. Is anyone stocking up on bullion? I'm buying some intersting bits from silver mustard pots to silver serving spoons...and of course a few farthing varieties.
  22. John and you got a nice pension. I have a pal here who retired after 25 years and still wears the uniform. My brother in law worked his way up in the civil service and retired on a huge pension and now is working on a consultant basis.I think I was a mug as getting qualified as a QS...but heck we only have 1 chance.Still I have 2 houses and sometimes nice daughters a great wife 1 dog,2 cats ....nice coins..I'm OK
  23. Wellcome Mr Stephen You will find many experts and dealers on this forum. If you want info...it is here.
  24. I've just checked my Tesco burgers in the fridge....AND THEY ARE OFF.
  25. I do offer free riding lessons in Suffolk.
