  1. Again. Why did CGS slab this crap? It is a coin worth less than £1.Why didn't they just say it is a pile of CRAP and not worth slabbing. It makes them and the seller looking complete idiots. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1915-GEORGE-V-FARTHING-CGS-VF45-/190755678959?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item2c69ecaaef
  2. Oh so true. Not just books but know what you are buying. Learn before you leap.
  3. The press make so many assumptions. Many are incorrect. I'm sure the truth will come out.
  4. Happy birthday Bob.
  5. That is obvious. Once varieties are published and accepted it creates demand.
  6. There are several on Ebay for less than £30 BIN reasonable coins as well.
  7. Declan is correct about the picture. For a guide though MS61 will likely be somewhere between EF and UNC Therefore £40 to £85. These are Spinks latest (2013)catalogue values. The JH florin is the commonest 19C florin so I would never buy at book price.

I saw this magnet tester for gold and silver. The video is interesting. If you want one the 2nd link is much cheaper. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gold-Silver-Coin-Testing-Neodymium-Magnet-Eagle-Dollar-Maple-Leaf-Krugerrand-/300833385430?pt=UK_Coins_Supplies_RL&hash=item460b112bd6 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221162659737?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

  10. Ouch. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNKNOWN-1792-I-D-DATED-YELLOW-COIN-/261136141003?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&nma=true&si=ZXtscHMgklN9SD2f3cmiCqImrsI%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  11. But still some interesting date combos left. Next year, for example, we've got 11/12/13 02/02/2020 is a perfect palindrome ~ the converse of 20/02/2002 ....to name but two..... Incidentally, next year is the first since 1987, not to have at least 2 digits the same. That only works if you subscribe to the appalling computer-driven modern tyranny of having to place a zero in front of a single-digit day or month. Something I resolutely refuse to do, and if I'm filling in a form with boxes for the date, I just leave the first box empty without putting their horrid horrid zero in it. Mind you, there will be some interesting genuine palindromes yet to come - 31/1/13 is the next one! Don't you mean 31/01/13
