  1. I'm still going ...JUST.A big bird to pick up this morning and Mrs Peters mum to pick up soon.Happy Xmas to all
  2. Yep A peaceful and huge welcome to all.Lets not be strangers over Xmas...we all need a break.
  3. Robs yer man I believe both were NVF 1967 pennies
  4. If she could Understand farthings Understand me Cook a little bit better wear more silky PJ's I could add many more
  5. Thanks SHE WAS MS69
  6. Don't get stressed out for £310...it really isn't worth it. Name and shame and what goes round comes round.
  7. Heritage Auction (World Coins) the one after January is April 17th , then September. The coin will need to be submitted to PCGS Paris. Balwins,Dix Noonan,Knightsbridge & London Coin Co are Agents (anyone live nearby or has anyone got a good contact?)_ I did pick up a slabbed PCGS florin MS65 from the UK.(not PCGS prices but UK unc) This maybe the way to go in checking any PCGS graded coins at non internet auctions. I've googled PCGS UK and on a forum one poor chap paid over $200 for slabbing and then had to pay $100 border tax to get his coins back. Methinks we need a bit of research.
  8. You want to see extreme clipping http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Henry-VI-Groat-Rosette-Calais-Spink1859-/150962138031?pt=UK_Coins_BritishHammered_RL&hash=item23260b6baf
  9. Right The idea is implanted. Say we went for a raw Silver UK coin max price the team buys at £500.Expenses say 20% for slabbing etc. £600 should cover the cost. If it fails to get in the slab just put it back in the raw market. Food for thought over Xmas chaps. Before we close a deal and start PM's who would want in?6 would be ideal. Which coin shall we go for? 6d,1/-,2/-,2/6,crown? Rob's selection would give me confidence on his nous and grading ability. or pick a Predecimal/Cooke/Snowdon/Riley/Lloyd Bennet/Ebay!!!! coin. It could be fun Keep the thread going before we go underground. £100 investment which will be worth at least £75 and the sky is the limit.
  10. Hi Nicky Seasons greetings to you. Try various google searches. Keep entering hobbit coins and lord of the rings into the main coin Ebay search. Good luck Be patient.
  11. Lets have a predecimal fund and buy the coin. Get it slabbed by PCGS and see what it could get at Heritage. It would be a good experiment. If they don't give it MS65 I would be shocked. Hey this could be a good business plan. Andy Bruce once tried to raise funds on a scheme where the risk is shared on premier coins. I do think there are enough experts on the forum to give this a go for minimum risk.
  12. Why is it worth more than melt? What absolute fools.
  13. They are here to stay. I always just buy the coin.Another thread I read last night was a US chap buying up ColinCookes George V1 farthings (several in top grade of each date)submitting the best to get better than MS64. So we have a £4 coin being slabbed for £15. Surely still only worth £4?
  14. The major USA TPG companies offer a cleaning service prior to slabbing
  15. They are not the only ones guilty of this.
  16. I must have a few 70's then IMO the £150 MS63 is far superior.
  17. Nicely toned. I bet you have a pug at your feet that is a handsome dog.
  18. What ever MS I wouldn't want it.It just a poorish obverse strike with awful tone.
  19. I'll stick with MS63 but I don't personally don't like the toning so as far as I'm concerned its off my radar.
  20. Not an expert on 6d's but I can't see wear...weak strike on the crown. I would need to see the obverse. What I can see gives MS63
  21. Absolute sham. All we can do is name and shame anyone who tries to pass these off. On another forum a TPG company was being blamed for slabbing a fake...it turn out the slab was fake too.
  22. It is quite a difficult site to navigate but I found 1822 crowns and Northumberland shillings.
  23. Looking on another forum Alibaba.com were being discussed. I had a look at the coin section and there is the source for the fakes swamping the market.Disgracefull.
