  1. I can't abide those coins with colours on. The whole point of it being a silver proof is that it has a fabulous finish and is clearly silver. I think too many people with "modern" ideas are being let loose in places where they really shouldn't be.
  2. It's getting much harder - especially when the RM keep minting coins which they then say "won't enter circulation" and "may not enter circulation" .... The mintage figures for 2018 coins won't be available for a year or so, but I would imagine the coin-hunt is such a good money spinner for them that it will definitely continue for some time to come. Individual 10p coins can be found here.
  3. Seriously? you forgot seriously!
  4. Hi @Pavel the RM site is a bit unfriendly with it's navigation, here is the link you require.
  5. I'm prepared to bet that many remain voters didn't realise just how costly this "free trade association of European Economic Countries" has actually become. Churchill must surely be spiralling in his grave as this shambles continues. We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, unless we decide to just hand it over and apologise for being awkward.
  6. I suspect it is what Mary uses as a monogram for her work, it is also present on the Suffragette 50p, whereas her older work had the initials MMD.
  7. I wanted to be a porn star. Every time I show up people say "what a cock"....
  8. As long as common sense is observed.... what am I saying, thats so last millenium!
  9. I just need to focus on buying everything in higher grades - and start checking that I don't already have things.... 3 recent occurrences of "oops"!
  10. Yep, and oddly about identical in condition to my die number 19 I was looking at about half an hour ago! Always nice to dig some silver, whatever monarch or denomination!
  11. You're really setting the bar rather high for us mere mortals
  12. Its a nice looking coin, but I agree, you should probably buy a calendar instead
  13. There a quite few varieties, that one was easiest to find, but they vary in size as all good Roman designs do. Alternative horse related varieties are out there, but the legend/obverse bust / reverse design all look about right for it to be this. Here is a larger "horse" rinky-dink also wildwinds Fonteia varieties (with a Goarse)
  14. Righty - I was rightish and wrong I think .... It definitely looks lik a Fonteia denarius, however ... it's infant genius riding a GOAT! http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/sear5/s0271.html
  15. The rushing noise I heard... it was that subtlety whizzing right past me
  16. Yes Jerry, Fonteia (sp?) about 85BC shoulld be a reasonable example. As for the moneyer, oesn't ring a bell.
  17. It's fairly common in the BC's, 85-30 ish, but those coins would definitely be solid silver - potentially a contemporary forgery but the obverse might present a few more clues before I'd commit to any more.
  18. I'm not sure about silver - silvered perhaps. Someone on a horse with another person on the ground below them - it rings a bell, one I've obviously looked for in the past... just can't seem to clear the brain fog at the moment.
  19. Following hot on the heels of the £1 glut comes the Representation 50p. Still no sign of the 10p's or the 2018 Beatrix 50p's near me yet.
  20. The gap in the rubbish bin?
  21. 4 Grand? Someones been reading the daily express for way too long.
  22. I got 3 last week, I was hoping they'd look a little less circulated than they do.
  23. Are there any distinguishing features other than the strike and the finish which could determine a proof? My Rev A has a look about it, but due to it's hard life even if it were a proof in a past life, it certainly doesn't pass for one now - an early strike is the closest I'd personally give it until it can be proven something else. Rev B's are what my comment was related to - I remain unconvinced, but keep an open mind.
  24. Do you have notes of the analysis, I'd be happy to correlate the data into something pie-like if it would lend itself to that.
